The First Lady's Cup is an annual one-off game, featuring two selected clubs at the end of the season. [1] The cup is called the GHALCA First Lady's Cup because it is organized by the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) and is played in honour of the sitting First Lady of Ghana.

The current holders are Hasaacas Ladies, who defeated rivals Ampem Darkoa Ladies 4–3 on penalties after the match ended in a 1–1 draw after full time in the 2021 maiden match. [2] [3]

History

In early 2021, The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) began talks with Ghana Football Association (GFA) on the organization of the First Lady's Cup a female version of the President's Cup. [4] They further set up a four-member committee to work on the competition including Anita Wiredu-Minta, a Ghanaian former international. [5] [6] In May 2021, GHALCA announced that arrangement for the organization of the First Lady's Cup has been concluded and formalized by the association's welfare body. The cup competition was launched on 5 November 2021. [7] On 10 December 2021, the maiden edition was played at the Accra Sports Stadium with Hasaacas Ladies emerging victorious after a 4–3 penalty shootout after the match remained goalless after full time. Ampem Darkoa Ladies F.C. is a Ghanaian professional women's football club based in Techiman in the Bono East Region of Ghana. The club features in the Ghana Women’s Premier League GWPL). The club was formed in 2009. It was one of the foundational clubs for the maiden GWPL season in 2012–13. It is currently the 2nd most successful women's club in Ghana after winning the Women's League on 2 different occasions against Hasaacas Ladies who have won it 4 times.

The 2020–21 Ghana Women's Premier League Final was an association football match which was played on 26th June 2021 Madina Astroturf in Accra, the capital of Ghana to determine winner of the Ghana Women's Premier League, the top tier women's league in Ghana. The two teams that qualified to the final were the winners of the two zones, the Northern Zone and the Southern Zone. between the two most successful women's team. At the end of the match Hasaacas Ladies won the match and won the league.
