Flint Creek Water Park, located in Wiggins, Mississippi, is part of the Pat Harrison Waterway District, which is a Mississippi State Agency providing outdoor recreation and management of the Pascagoula River Basin. [2] The purpose of the nine water parks located in southeast and east-central Mississippi is to provide flood control, water management, and recreation.
This is not to be confused with the Flint Creek Waterpark in Colcord, Oklahoma on the Flint Creek that flows through Arkansas and Oklahoma. [3]
The 1,900-acre (7.7 km2) Flint Creek Water Park provides a wide assortment of outdoor recreational opportunities, most focusing on water sports. [4] The 600-acre (2.4 km2) Flint Creek Reservoir is created by an earthen dam impounding the headwaters of Flint Creek, which flows south into Red Creek, [5] a tributary of the Pascagoula River.
The lake is stocked with popular southern sporting fish: largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and catfish. The swimming area, which is seasonally open, features several water slides suitable for either children or adults. A nature trail provides visitors with an opportunity to enjoy outdoor scenery, plants, and wildlife. There are several options for overnight visitors— 156 Class A RV campsites, 40 primitive campsites, 34 vacation cabins and 12 camphouses. [6] A picnic area with tables and barbecue pits is also available for day use.
In May 2015, Splash of Fun opened within the Water Park and replaced Water Town recreation area. Splash of Fun recreation amenities include water slides, a swimming pool, lazy-river tubing, and a putt-putt golf course. [7]
In 2024, the Water Park opened its 18-hole Cheona Trails Disc Golf Course designed by Bo Kirk. [8] [9]
Flint Creek Water Park is about 2 miles (3 kilometers) from the Wiggins business district (via Highway 29), which provides a full complement of basic services. [10] The Water Park is about 35 miles (56 kilometers) from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, accessible via U.S. Route 49.
Two annual events are very popular with both visitors and the local community. A fireworks display celebrates the Fourth of July, and a haunted forest is offered the Saturday before Halloween.
Flint Creek Water Park served as a film location for the movies Shark Lake in 2015 [11] and Hunt Club in 2022. [12]

Tishomingo State Park is a public recreation area located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Tishomingo County, some 45 miles (72 km) northeast of Tupelo, Mississippi. The major feature of the park is Bear Creek Canyon and its generous sandstone outcroppings. Activities in the park include canoeing, rock climbing, fishing, and hiking. The park sits at Milepost 304 of Natchez Trace Parkway, a scenic road operated by the National Park Service that runs directly through the park.
The Greater Grand Forks Greenway is a huge greenway bordering the Red River and Red Lake River in the twin cities of Grand Forks, North Dakota and East Grand Forks, Minnesota. At 2,200 acres (9 km2), the Greenway is more than twice the size of New York City's Central Park. It has an extensive, 20-mile (32 km) system of bike paths, which are used by bikers, walkers, joggers, and rollerbladers. In 2007, the system was designated as a National Recreation Trail by the National Park Service.
Lake Lowndes State Park is a public recreation area in the U.S. state of Mississippi located off Mississippi Highway 69, eight miles (13 km) southeast of Columbus, Mississippi.
Trace State Park is a public recreation area located off Mississippi Highway 6, seven miles (11 km) east of Pontotoc and seven miles (11 km) west of Tupelo in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The state park surrounds 565-acre (229 ha) Trace Lake and is named for the nearby Natchez Trace trail. Famed frontiersman Davy Crockett once lived within the area bounded by the park.

The river drains an area of about 8,800 square miles (23,000 km²) and flows into Mississippi Sound of the Gulf of Mexico. The Pascagoula River Basin is managed by the Pat Harrison Waterway District.

Palmer Park is a 296-acre (120 ha) public park next to Detroit, Michigan's Palmer Park Apartment Building Historic District.
