The Florida Sea Dragons was an American professional basketball based in Fort Myers, Florida. [1] The club competed in the now defunct United States Basketball League. The Sea Dragons played from 2000 to 2003 at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida. [2]

The United States Basketball League (USBL) was a professional men's spring basketball league. The league was formed in 1985 and ceased operations in 2008. The USBL started in 1985 as one of the first basketball leagues to play a late-spring to early-summer schedule. The league quickly became known as a development league for players, with many players moving up to the NBA and many more playing in Europe after stints here. In 1996, the league made a stock offering, a rarity among sports leagues. However, in later years, the league declined as rival leagues appeared and USBL had a tougher time replacing teams that folded. In the last two seasons, the league was mainly a midwestern league, with teams mainly in Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. After speculation that the USBL might fold after the 2007 season, the league announced that it would sit out the 2008 season and consider its options for the future. In January 2010, the league expressed hopes to resume play in April 2010. However, no further news has surfaced from the league. The final champions are the Kansas Cagerz, who won the title game on July 1, 2007.

The International Basketball Association (IBA) was founded in 1995 by a group of businessmen led by Tom Anderson. The original owners of franchises in the league were George Daniel, John Korsmo, Al Gardner, and Al Hovland, Jeff McCarron, Bill Sorensen and Earl Barish. Earl Barish of Winnipeg directed the IBA as League President and the league eventually grew to ten franchises. In the fall of 2001, CBA and IBL teams merged with the IBA and purchased the assets of the defunct CBA, including its name, logo and records from the bankruptcy court and restarted operations, calling itself the CBA. This group continued to operate until June 2009, when it was forced to cease operations.

Kenny Sykes is an American high school basketball coach who is best known for his collegiate career at Grambling State University between 1992 and 1995. Sykes, a 6'4" shooting guard, was the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Newcomer of the Year and a second team all-conference selection as a sophomore in 1992–93. He averaged 23.9 points, 5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.1 steals per game that year. In Sykes' junior season he was once again named to the all-conference second team, this time behind averages of 21 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.8 steals. In 1994–95, his senior year, Sykes averaged a conference-leading 26.3 points per game as well as 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He was named the SWAC Player of the Year, becoming just the second player from Grambling State to earn the honor.

Jeff Myers is an American retired basketball player. During college, Myers primarily played for the Drexel Dragons men's basketball between 1994 and 1997. After graduation, he played in the United States Basketball League and the Continental Basketball Association before joining the National Basketball Development League. With the NBDL, Myers played for the Greenville Groove from 2001 to 2003 and the Columbus Riverdragons from 2003 to 2005. While with the Groove, he won the first ever NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2002.
