The women's disc golf was one of the events in flying disc at the 2001 World Games in Akita. It was played from 17 to 18 August. The competition took place at Akita Prefectural Central Park Disc Golf Course. [1]
A total of 6 athletes entered the competition. In preliminary stage they play round-robin tournament on 9 holes. Athletes on the first and second place advances to gold medal match. Athletes on the third and four place advances to bronze medal match. In final rounds athletes have to play 18 holes.

Match play is a scoring system for golf in which a player, or team, earns a point for each hole in which they have bested their opponents; as opposed to stroke play, in which the total number of strokes is counted over one or more rounds of 18 holes. In match play the winner is the player, or team, with the most points at the end of play.
The 1908 News of the World Match Play was the sixth News of the World Match Play tournament. It was played from Tuesday 6 to Thursday 8 October at Mid-Surrey Golf Club. 32 players competed in a straight knock-out competition, with each match contested over 18 holes, except for the final which was over 36 holes. The winner received £100 out of a total prize fund of £240. J.H. Taylor defeated Fred Robson by 2 holes in the final to win the tournament.
