Flyte are recording artists from London, England, known for their crafted and often confessional songwriting style. [1] [2] [3]
Taylor and Supran started playing together when they were eleven at their local comprehensive school. Hill and Berridge joined later; the rest of the band first heard Berridge singing in the London Underground. The band takes its name from Sebastian Flyte of Evelyn Waugh's Brideshead Revisited . After a video of Taylor and Berridge covering Joni Mitchell's "River" went viral, the band signed a record deal with Island Records.[ citation needed ]
Flyte's first single "We Are the Rain" was released on Transgressive Records on 28 April 2014. [4] The single and B-side "Where Nobody Knows Your Name" were mixed and produced by Dan Grech-Marguerat and released digitally along with a limited run of 7-inch vinyl. The video for "We Are the Rain" was premiered by Michael Cragg on The Guardian 's music blog. The single received support from Radio 1, XFM, BBC 6Music, BBC London, and Amazing Radio. It was announced in 2013 that the band had been signed by Island Records [5]
The second single from Light Me Up was released on Turned Out Nice / Island Records on 17 November 2014. [6] The single was recorded by Hugh Fielding at the band's own recording facility within Goldmine Studios in Bethnal Green and mixed by Mike Crossey.
The band released two further singles on Island Records: "Closer Together" [7] and "Please Eloise". [8] "Closer Together" was remixed by Bombay Bicycle Club singer Jack Steadman. [9]
In 2017, Flyte flew to Australia to work with Courtney Barnett's producer Burke Reid on their debut album. [10] Focusing on their live performances and the band's four voices around one microphone, they took their production cues from David Bowie, Nick Drake, The Beatles and Lou Reed. The album The Loved Ones was released on 25 August 2017.
Flyte have toured the UK and Europe extensively and supported the likes of The Lemon Twigs and Bombay Bicycle Club. [11]
They have also performed at Jamie Oliver and Alex James' 'The Big Feastival' in 2015. They have also performed at Boardmasters 2018 in Cornwall after having toured in the US.
On 11 November 2019, Flyte played live at the Village Underground in Shoreditch, London. They were supported by Matt Maltese. In attendance were Paul Sheehan and Adam Heley.

Island Records is a Jamaican multinational record label owned by Universal Music Group. It was founded in 1959 by Chris Blackwell, Graeme Goodall, and Leslie Kong in Jamaica, and was eventually sold to PolyGram in 1989. Island and A&M Records, another label recently acquired by PolyGram, were both at the time the largest independent record labels in history, with Island having exerted a major influence on the progressive music scene in the United Kingdom in the early 1970s. Island Records operates four international divisions: Island US, Island UK, Island Australia, and Island France. Current key people include Island US president Darcus Beese, and MD Jon Turner. Partially due to its significant legacy, Island remains one of UMG's pre-eminent record labels.
Elbow are an English rock band formed in Bury, Greater Manchester in 1997. The band consists of Guy Garvey, Craig Potter, Mark Potter and Pete Turner. They have played together since 1990, adopting the name Elbow in 1997. Drummer Alex Reeves replaced Richard Jupp in 2016.
The Maccabees were an English indie rock band, formed in 2004 in London. They released four albums: Colour It In in 2007, followed by Wall of Arms in 2009, Given to the Wild which was released on 9 January 2012 and their last album Marks to Prove It released on 31 July 2015. The band announced that they decided to disband in August 2016, with farewell gigs in 2017.
Bombay Bicycle Club are an English indie rock band from Crouch End, London, consisting of Jack Steadman, Jamie MacColl, Suren de Saram, and Ed Nash. They are guitar-fronted and have experimented with different genres, including folk, electronica, world music and indie rock.
The Boy I Used to Be is the first extended play (EP) by Bombay Bicycle Club, released in 2007. It was released on CD and 1,000 limited edition numbered 10-inch vinyl. 500 vinyl copies were also pressed by the independent record label Nettwerk. It was the band's first release since winning Channel 4's "Road to V" competition, where they won the opportunity to be the opening act at the 2006 V Festival.
I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose is the first album by the London indie rock band, Bombay Bicycle Club released on 3 July 2009. The band announced the title through MySpace and their official website on 31 March 2009. The album was recorded during October and November 2008, with the long-term producer Jim Abbiss. The title comes from a line in the song "After Hours" by A Tribe Called Quest, from their 1990 album People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm.
Stornoway are a British indie folk band from the Cowley area of Oxford. As of 2023 the band is led by ornithologist Brian Briggs as singer, guitarist, and main songwriter, with multi-instrumentalists Jon Ouin and Oli Steadman.
Flaws is the second studio album by the English indie rock band Bombay Bicycle Club, released on 9 July 2010 by Island Records. Unlike the band's previous releases, the album is entirely acoustic music, consisting of versions of their own tracks as well as cover versions of other artists. The album was produced in part by the guitarist Jamie MacColl's father, Neil MacColl, with recording taking place in February 2009 at The Church in Crouch End, London. The band started work on the album after completing their first album, I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose.

Tahliah Debrett Barnett, known professionally as FKA Twigs, is a British singer, songwriter, and dancer. She was a backup dancer for numerous musicians, and made her musical debut with EP1 (2012). Barnett's debut studio album, LP1 (2014), reached number 16 on the UK Albums Chart and number 30 on the US Billboard 200. It was nominated for that year's Mercury Prize. Jack Steadman, also known by his stage name Mr Jukes, is an English singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer best known as the vocalist and primary songwriter of the indie rock band Bombay Bicycle Club since its formation in 2005. He released his debut album as Mr Jukes, God First, in 2017.

The album includes collaborations with Jay Som, Nilüfer Yanya, Damon Albarn, Chaka Khan and Holly Humberstone. It received acclaim from critics.
