Life and career

Raisen, a native of Massapequa, New York, resides in Los Angeles where he owns a recording studio. [1] [2]

In 2019, Raisen launched his own record label, KRO Records, with Lawrence and Yves Rothman. [3] KRO's first release included two tracks from River Phoenix's band Aleka's Attic, along with a single from Rain Phoenix featuring Michael Stipe. [4] This was followed by the single "Poison" by Marissa Nadler featuring John Cale. [5] Other 2019 releases included Kills Birds' self-titled debut LP; Buzzy Lee's EP, "Close Encounters of Our Own Kind"; and a single titled "Mother" by Courtney Love. [6] [7] [8] In 2020, KRO Records released the soundtrack for Stephen Spielberg's The Turning under exclusive license to Sony Music Entertainment. [9]

After the Lizzo single "Truth Hurts" reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2019, Raisen, alongside his brother Jeremiah, accused Lizzo of plagiarizing a line from his song "Healthy" and asked to receive songwriting credits. [10] Instead, Lizzo filed a lawsuit in order to receive a declaratory judgment blocking the Raisens from receiving any songwriting credits. [2] The Raisens responded in February 2020 by filing a counterclaim, asking to receive royalties and songwriting credits for the song. [11]
