Stoke-on-Trent is a city and unitary authority area in Staffordshire, England, with an area of 36 square miles (93 km2). Together with the neighbouring boroughs of Newcastle-under-Lyme and Staffordshire Moorlands, it is part of North Staffordshire. In 2016, the city had a population of 261,302. It is the largest settlement in all of Staffordshire.

Radio City Talk was an Independent Local Radio station in Liverpool, England. The station was awarded a licence by Ofcom on 9 November 2006 and the station launched on 28 January 2008. Radio City Talk was a sister station to the existing Bauer Radio-owned Radio City and Greatest Hits Radio Liverpool, and the stations shared studio premises at the top of the Radio City Tower in Liverpool City Centre. The station was broadcast on AM, on the Bauer Liverpool DAB multiplex, online and via the Radio City App. The station was owned & operated by Bauer Radio and formed part of Bauer's Hits Radio Network. In May 2020, it was announced by Bauer that Radio City Talk would cease broadcasting, after concluding that the station was no longer financially viable to run.

The 2010–11 season was Port Vale's 99th season of football in the English Football League, and third successive season in League Two. However Micky Adams left the club in December to take charge of Sheffield United, leaving the promotion push to be finished by new man Jim Gannon. Gannon's traumatic reign ended after just two months; his exit confirmed after players, staff and fans turned against him. Vale exited the FA Cup at the Third Round, and left both the League Cup and the League Trophy at the Second Round. In the background, numerous groups and individuals expressed their willingness to purchase the club. The board turned away these investors – to the anger of some fans, who formed a 'Black and Gold' campaign demanding that the club be sold.
