The film connects two historical incidents that deepened the friendship between Japan and Turkey: The sinking of the Turkish frigate Ertuğrul off the Japanese coast in 1890, and the evacuation of Japanese nationals from Tehran in 1985. It received ten nominations at the 39th Japan Academy Film Prize, winning the awards for Best Art Direction and Best Sound Recording.
