Super Clásico

Colo Colo vs Universidad de Chile

The rivalry between Colo Colo and Universidad de Chile is the biggest in Chile. It was first played in 1938. [1]

Clásico Universitario

Universidad de Chile vs Universidad Católica

This match, which represents the oldest derby in Chile, between the football teams of Universidad de Chile and Universidad Católica, that represent two of the most important universities and football teams in the country. Originally University clubs, they turned professional in the 1930s and kept their amateur names. [2]

There are three traditional rivals: Unión Española, founded by Spanish immigrants; Palestino, a team founded by members of the Palestinian diaspora living in Chile; and Audax Italiano, which originated from their local Italian counterpart, hence the name of the derbies. Unión Española is also the second oldest club of the Primera División Chilena with 113 years (behind Santiago Wanderers with 118 years) and all three clubs have a long history of rivalry. All three teams are based in Santiago. [13] [14]

Clásico Porteño

Santiago Wanderers vs. Everton

It is played between Santiago Wanderers of Valparaiso, and Everton of Viña del Mar. It is the oldest derby in Chile. The first official match was played in 1944 with a 2-0 win for Everton. [15]

One of the most notable games was on 29 September 2013, when 5 players were sent off (2 from Wanderers and 3 from Everton), Wanderers eventually winning 3-0, after a losing streak of 4 matches against his rival in the same year. [16]

Clásico del Cobre

Two teams associated with the copper rich regions and the industry Cobreloa and Cobresal contest the derby since the late 70's, when the clubs were founded. [17]

The 2017 Copa Chile,, was the 38th edition of the Copa Chile, the country's national cup tournament. The competition started on 9 July 2017 with the first round and ended on 11 November 2017. Santiago Wanderers were the winners, beating Universidad de Chile 3–1 in the final to win their third title and first since 1961, and qualified for the 2018 Copa Libertadores.

The 2018 Campeonato Nacional, known as Campeonato Nacional Scotiabank 2018 for sponsorship purposes, was the 88th season of top-flight football in Chile. The season started on 2 February and ended on 2 December. Colo-Colo were the defending champions, having won the 2017 Transición tournament. Universidad Católica won their thirteenth title on the last day of the season following a 2–1 win at Deportes Temuco, who were relegated to the second tier with this defeat.

The 2018 Copa Chile, was the 39th edition of the Copa Chile, the country's national football cup tournament. Santiago Wanderers were the defending champions, but lost to Palestino in the second round of the competition. Palestino went on to become champions after defeating Audax Italiano in the final by an aggregate score of 4–2.

The 2019 Campeonato Nacional, known as Campeonato AFP PlanVital 2019 for sponsorship reasons, was the 89th season of top-flight football in Chile. The season started on 15 February 2019. Universidad Católica were the defending champions, having won the previous tournament.

The 2019 Copa Chile, was the 40th edition of the Copa Chile, the country's national football cup tournament. Palestino were the defending champions, but were knocked out of the competition by Santiago Morning in the second round. Colo-Colo were the champions, defeating Universidad de Chile 2–1 in the final.

The 2020 Chilean Primera División, known as Campeonato Nacional AFP PlanVital 2020 for sponsorship reasons, was the 90th season of the Chilean Primera División, Chile's top-flight football league. The season started on 24 January 2020 and ended on 17 February 2021 with the relegation play-off. Universidad Católica were the defending champions, having won the previous tournament. They successfully defended their title, winning their fifteenth league championship and third in a row with a game to spare on 10 February 2021 after tying 0–0 at home with eventual league runners-up Unión La Calera.

The 2021 Copa Chile, was the 41st edition of the Copa Chile, the country's national football cup tournament. The tournament began on 15 June 2021 during the mid-season break due to the 2021 Copa América and ended on 4 September 2021, with the final match on neutral ground. Colo-Colo were able to defend the title won in the previous edition of the competition, winning their thirteenth Copa Chile after beating Everton in the final by a 2–0 score.

The 2022 Chilean Primera División, known as Campeonato PlanVital 2022 for sponsorship purposes, is the 92nd season of the Chilean Primera División, Chile's top-flight football league. The season began on 4 February 2022 and ended on 6 November 2022.

The 2021 Club Deportivo Universidad Católica season is the 81st season and the club's 47th consecutive season in the top flight of Chilean football. In addition to the domestic league, Universidad Católica are participating in this season's editions of the Copa Chile, the Supercopa de Chile, and the Copa Libertadores.

The 2020 Club Deportivo Universidad Católica season was the 80th season and the club's 46th consecutive season in the top flight of Chilean football.
