For the Sake of Mankind is the second studio album by the Norwegian heavy metal band, Artch.
Japan were an English new wave band formed in 1974 in Catford, South London by David Sylvian, Steve Jansen (drums) and Mick Karn, joined by Richard Barbieri (keyboards) and Rob Dean the following year. Initially a glam rock-inspired band, Japan developed their sound and androgynous look to incorporate electronic music and foreign influences.

Gardenian was a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg. It formed in 1996 and disbanded in 2004 but reunited in 2012.
Artch is a heavy metal band from Sarpsborg, Norway. Initially formed in 1983 by guitarist Cato André Olsen and bass player Bernt Jansen, in 1984 guitarist Geir Nilssen, drummer Jørn Jamissen and vocalist Lars Fladeby all joined the band but they had formerly been with a local rock group called Oxygen. Espen Hoff replaced Fladeby as lead singer in 1985, but he died in a motorcycle accident later that same year, and was replaced by Eiríkur Hauksson in 1986. Artch released two albums on the American record label Metal Blade that got great reviews, especially in the English heavy metal press, but sales were disappointing. Drummer Jamissen left the band in 1991 and was replaced by Gudmund Bolsgård. They reformed in 2000 after a prolonged period of inactivity.

The complete production and studio mastering/mixing was done by miKKa. Originally pictured as the album concerning the end of the world, but later changed into a story about the abandonment of the mankind's norms and voyage into the depths of the ocean. The artwork was created by the conceptual artist Bojana Jarošenko who also created the cover for the dreDDup (album). This album also concluded some guest musicians such as Gaga Lee of Hype!, Simone from Lesboes in Action and cult actress Ljuma Penov. Album was first released by Glory & Honour records and then in 2014. re-released for Miner Recordings.
