Forbidden Warrior is a 2005 martial arts fantasy action film starring Marie Matiko, Sung Kang and Karl Yune. It was directed by Jimmy Nickerson, and produced by Glen Hartford and Daniel Toll. The film is notable in resembling a low-budget Hong Kong action film, despite its American production and cast. A review in Variety noted that characters from a Chinese myth are given Japanese names and played by caucasians. [1]
In a 2006 interview, the writer/producer Glen Hartford claims he based the story on "a piece of mythological history, from over 4000 years ago", and calls the movie an "Asian film". [2]

Yuen Woo-ping is a Hong Kong martial arts choreographer and film director who worked in Hong Kong action cinema and later Hollywood films. He is one of the inductees on the Avenue of Stars in Hong Kong. Yuen is also a son of Yuen Siu-tien, a martial arts film actor. He attended the China Drama Academy for one year as a day student of Master Yu Jim-yuen as well.

He entered the Hong Kong film industry as a stuntman in the late 1980's, and went on to star in films such as City War (1988), opposite Chow Yun-Fat, Tiger Cage 2 (1990), opposite Donnie Yen, and Bloody Mary Killer (1993), alongside Cynthia Rothrock.

He is best known for his role as Maseo Yamashiro in the DC Comics TV franchise Arrow, as Tak Mashido in the sci-fi film Real Steel, and as Koichi in the film Memoirs of a Geisha. His first lead role was in the cult thriller Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, as Tran.

The film Royal Warriors would be exported with the title In the Line of Duty and, due to its success, the film Yes Madam!, released one year prior, was retitled In the Line of Duty II: The Police Assassins as an export. Due to the overwhelming financial achievement of the films under the In the Line of Duty titles, D & B would start utilizing the In the Line of Duty title in their native Hong Kong market, with the third film being the first to originally use the In the Line of Duty name, which in turn would be retroactively applied to the two Michelle Yeoh vehicles. This would continue with the fourth entry before the series would revert to using individual unique titles.
