Fortunate Nantongo (born 1996) is a Ugandan lawyer, politician and legislator. She represents the people of Kyotera District as a member of the Parliament of Uganda. She won the MP seat on the Democratic Party (DP) ticket. [1] [2] [3] [4] She is the Shadow minister of Gender, labor and social development in the opposition government. [5] [6] [7]
Nantongo started her primary studies at Bright grammar primary school Masaka, she thereafter went to Mt. St Mary's college Namagunga for her O'level education and later went to st. Mary's Kitende for her A'level education. [1] [8]
She later pursued a bachelor's degree in law from Uganda Christian University where she graduated in 2018 and added a post graduate diploma in legal practice at the law development center in 2019. [1]
When Nantongo's mum Robinah Nakasirye Ssentongo, the pioneer Woman Mp Kyotera district died unexpectedly in the middle of a campaign on 18 December 2020, due to COVID-19, Nantongo was chosen by DP to replace her. [1] [9] [10] [11] [12]
Nantongo, the second born of her mother and father, lost her mother, father and aunt in a space of 10 days. [12] This encouraged voters to empathize with her and vote her into parliament. [1] [13]
At the time of her mother's death, Nantongo was her political handler. She also managed her mother's finances and did research to help in her parliamentary work and managed projects in the constituency on her behalf.[ citation needed ]
She was nominated as DP candidate two days after her mum's burial, since the campaign leading to the 2021 general elections had less than a month to end. [1] [2] [10] [13] In the election she garnered 49,019 votes and her closest rival Rachel Nakitende of the National Resistance Movement garnered 26,137 votes. [3] [14] [15]
Nantongo serves on the committee on legal and parliamentary affairs [16] and the gender committee. [17]
Jenipher Kacha Namuyangu, also Jennifer Namuyangu Byakatonda, but commonly referred to as Jennifer Namuyangu, is a Ugandan politician and environmentalist. She belongs to the National Resistance Movement political party. She is the current Minister of State for Bunyoro Affairs in the Prime Minister's Office and former Minister of State for Local Government in the Ugandan Cabinet. She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. She previously served as the Minister of State for Water Resources, from 1 June 2006 until 27 May 2011. In the Cabinet reshuffle on 27 May 2011, she was dropped from the cabinet and was replaced by Betty Bigombe. She also served as the elected Member of Parliament for Pallisa District Women's Representative, from 2001 until 2011. In 2010, Pallisa District was split into two, to create Kibuku District. Namuyangu contested for the parliamentary seat of Kibuku County, Kibuku District. She was rigged by Saleh Kamba by a wide margin.

Anita Annet Among is a Ugandan accountant, lawyer and politician who is the Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda since 2022. She also concurrently serves as the elected member of parliament for the Bukedea District Women Constituency, the same position she held in the 10th Parliament (2016–2021). She was in FDC party before she joined the ruling NRM where she was voted as the Deputy Speaker of the 10th Parliament. Sarah Babirye Kityo is a Ugandan Politician and the former elected Youth Representative for Central Region in Uganda's 10th Parliament. She is a member of the National Resistance Movement on whose ticket she ran on in the 2016 Ugandan general election defeating Arthur Katongole, an independent candidate. Robinah Nabbanja is a Ugandan educator and politician who serves as the Prime Minister of Uganda, having been nominated to the office on 8 June 2021. She was formally confirmed by the Parliament on 21 June 2021. She replaced Ruhakana Rugunda, who was named to the post of Envoy For Special Duties In The Office Of The President of Uganda. She is the first female prime minister of Uganda.
Achiro Lucy Otim, commonly referred to as Lucy Achiro Otim is a female Ugandan politician and a Gender Specialist. She is the district woman representative for Aruu North County consistency, Pader district in the 10th Parliament. Achiro belongs to an independent political party at the Parliament of Uganda. She won the parliamentary seat running as an independent candidate in 2016. Her tenure as member of parliament was cut short when the Ugandan supreme court nullified her election for non-compliance with electoral laws because the electoral commission failed to carry out a vote recount after she had won with a two vote margin, beating James Nabinson Kidega of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). However, she returned as member of parliament after being re-elected Aruu north member of parliament in the April 2017 election by again beating Kidega, this time 64 percent to 32 percent.
