Fowzia Fathima is an Indian film cinematographer, producer, academic and director. Fowzia is known for her cinematography on feature films such as Mitr, My Friend 2012, Gulumaal: The Escape 2009 and Uyir 2006. She is an intuitive practitioner of Cinematography [1] across media technologies, a hands-on Academic with an eye trained in history of art practices along with a wide range of experience in Film Production and Teaching in contemporary cinema based in India. [2]
Fowzia Fathima, an alumnus of Film and Television Institute of India, [3] has also worked as professor and head of department of cinematography at SRFTI and has directed short film Infected that screened at Busan International Film Festival. [4] Fowzia is the founder of “ Indian Women Cinematographers Collective" connecting most practicing professionals in the country today, a forum that functions as a peer group to share experiences and lead founded 2017. [5]
Started career as an assistant to P.C. Sreeram, Fowzia made her debut as an independent camera person with the Revathi directed film Mitr, My Friend , along with an all female technical crew. Kannada cinema, also known as Sandalwood, or Chandanavana, is the segment of Indian cinema dedicated to the production of motion pictures in the Kannada language widely spoken in the state of Karnataka. Kannada cinema is based in Gandhi Nagar, Bengaluru. The 1934 film Sati Sulochana directed by Y. V. Rao was the first talkie film released in the Kannada language. It was also the first film starring Subbaiah Naidu and Tripuramba, and the first screened in the erstwhile Mysore Kingdom. It was produced by Chamanlal Doongaji, who in 1932 founded South India Movietone in Bengaluru.
Santosh Sivan is an Indian cinematographer, film director, producer and actor known for his works in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi cinema. Santosh graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India and has, to date, completed 55 feature films and 50 documentaries. He is regarded as one of India's finest and best cinematographers. He is the recipient of the Pierre Angénieux Excellens in Cinematography, twelve National Film Awards, six Filmfare Awards, four Kerala State Film Awards, and three Tamil Nadu State Film Awards.
Kim Longinotto is a British documentary film maker, well known for making films that highlight the plight of female victims of oppression or discrimination. Longinotto has made more than 20 films, usually featuring inspiring women and girls at their core. P. C. Sreeram is an Indian cinematographer and film director who works in Indian films. He is also the president of Qube Cinemas, a digital cinema technology company. He is an alumnus of the Madras Film Institute. Apart from his work as a cinematographer, Sreeram was much appreciated for his directorial venture Kuruthipunal. The film was internationally acclaimed and was submitted by India as its official entry to the Oscars in 1996. Sreeram is known for his association with Bharathan, Mani Ratnam, R Balki, Vikram Kumar, and received critical acclaim for his work in films such as Thevar Magan, Mouna Ragam, Nayakan, Cheeni Kum, Agni Natchathiram, Paa, Geethanjali, Alaipayuthey, I, Pad Man, O Kadhal Kanmani, Thiruda Thiruda, Ishq, and Remo. He has worked as a cinematographer in over 30 films spanning across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi language, besides directing three films and a few TV commercials in Chennai and Mumbai. He is also one of the founding members of Indian Society of Cinematographers (ISC).
Indian cinematographers work in a number of regional film centres: Mumbai for films in Marathi and Hindi, Hyderabad for Telugu films, Chennai for Tamil films, Kochi for films in Malayalam, Kolkata for Bengali films, Bangalore for Kannada films, etc. Most Indian cinematographers are known for their work with one regional industry. Rajeev Ravi is an Indian cinematographer, director, and producer from Kochi, Kerala. He's best known for his work in Hindi and Malayalam films. After graduating from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune in 1997, he started his career by assisting in the Malayalam film, Pranayavarnangal (1998) shot by Santosh Thundiyil. He debuted as a cinematographer with the film Chandni Bar (2001), when he was launched by producer R. Mohan when the original cinematographer Venu had date clashes. The film was directed by Madhur Bhandarkar.
Anjuli Shukla is an Indian cinematographer and film director. She is the first and till date the only Indian woman who has won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography. Kutty Srank, her debut film, won her the National Film Award for Best Cinematography in 2010. Her recent direction, ‘Happy Mothers Day’ a feature film by Children's Film Society, India (CFSI) was the opening film for the 19th Edition of the International Children's Film Festival India (ICFFI). An alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India, Shukla started her career as an assistant to cinematographer and director Santosh Sivan before making her feature film debut.
Bina Paul, also known by her married name Bina Paul Venugopal, is an Indian film editor who works mainly in Malayalam-language films. A graduate of the University of Delhi, she completed a course on film editing from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, in 1983.

Preetha Jayaraman is an Indian cinematographer. She is the niece of famous cinematographer P. C. Sreeram. Jayaraman was largely inspired by her uncle's work on field and later became an established Cinematographer. She has ranging experience from shooting TVCs, music videos, short films, documentaries and feature films. She frequently collaborates with Prakash Raj. She came to limelight when she had worked for Abhiyum Naanum (2008). In 2019, she won the "Best Cinematography Award" at the Wonder Women Awards. She is one of the first 4 women to be inducted into the Indian Society of Cinematographers.
Madhu Neelakandan, sometimes spelled Madhu Neelakantan is an Indian cinematographer and film producer in Malayalam and Bollywood cinema. He won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Cinematography in 2012 for Annayum Rasoolum and in 2021 for Churuli. He is a part of Collective Phase One, a creative group that has produced films such as ID and Njan Steve Lopez. He has done his PG diploma in cinematography from film and television institute of India, Pune.
Rima Das is an Indian filmmaker best known for her 2017 film Village Rockstars, which won several national and international awards and became India's official entry for the 90th Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category.
