Francesc Homs Molist (born 5 September 1969,in Vic,Barcelona) is a Spanish politician and former Minister of the Presidency and Spokesperson of the Government of Catalonia. [1]
Francesc Homs was born in Vic in 1969 and holds a degree in law from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). [1] He is married and father to two daughters. [1] In his private life,he is a keen cyclist and a practising Roman Catholic. [2]
He is Minister of the Presidency and Spokesperson of the Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya). Previously,he was Secretary General of the Presidency of the Government of Catalonia (2010–2012) and Director General of Interdepartmental Affairs (2001–2003).
He was a member of the Parliament of Catalonia from 2003 to 2010. [1] He was writer of the draft of the new Statute of Catalonia on behalf of Convergència i Unió(CiU),and speaker of the new Statute (2006).
He has worked in several private companies in the service and banking sectors. [2]
He is Vice-Secretary General of Strategy of Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya (CDC) and member of the Executive National Board of Convergència i Unió(CiU). He was the Head of the Project Great House of Catalanism (Projecte de la Casa Gran del Catalanisme),which aimed to remodel and build on the political catalanism.
He is the author of the books:Catalunya a Judici,Edicions Ara llibres,2008;Dret a decidir. Estacióconcert,EdicióBase,2010. [1]
The Generalitat de Catalunya,or the Government of Catalonia,is the institutional system by which Catalonia is self-governed as an autonomous community of Spain. It is made up of the Parliament of Catalonia,the President of the Government of Catalonia,and the Executive Council of Catalonia. Its current powers are set out in the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia of 2006.

Union of the Centre and Christian Democracy of Catalonia was an electoral coalition formed in Catalonia in December 1976 to contest the Spanish Congress of Deputies election of 1977,the first democratic election to be held in Spain since the Second Spanish Republic. It was formed by the Catalan Centre (CC) and the historic Democratic Union of Catalonia (UDC),and came to be supported by the Christian Democratic Team of the Spanish State,which did not run on its own in Catalonia. The coalition was officially registered on 3 May 1977. The alliance dissolved shortly after the election upon the start of the newly elected parliament,with UDC deputy Antón Cañellas joining the Catalan–Basque Group and Carlos Güell going into the Mixed Group.
