Francis George Allman Barnard (1857-1932) was an Australian naturalist, a pharmacist, and Mayor of the City of Kew in Victoria. [3] He also played one first-class cricket match for Victoria in 1886. [4]

Career

Barnard was a registered pharmacist by 1879, he then become the President of the Metropolitan Chemists' Association in 1915. He was President of the Eastern Suburbs Chemists c.1920. The Mayor of Kew from 1920 and then the president of the Field Naturalists' Club of Victoria, and editor of their journal, The Victorian Naturalist , from 1892 to 1925. [3]

Gary Presland is an Australian archaeologist and writer who studied history at La Trobe University 1973-76, and archaeology at the University of London, 1977-79. He was a staff member of the Victoria Archaeological Survey from 1983 to April 1988; his research interests are in the Aboriginal and natural history of Melbourne. One important contribution was the transcription and editing of the unpublished journals of George Augustus Robinson, Chief Protector of Aborigines in the Port Phillip District, 1839-1849. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Melbourne in 2005, for his reconstruction of the pre-European natural history of Melbourne.

Fred J. Boyd was an Australian pharmacist, qualified accountant, and radiographer, and the founding president of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia.

Charles B Macgibbon played an important role in developing the hospital pharmacy profession in Australia. He was the Chief Pharmacist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital from 1938. At this time there were only 36 hospital pharmacists in the Victorian hospital system and there was virtually no collaboration between them. Charles realised that by joining together, hospital pharmacists in Victoria could strengthen the profession and contribute to better quality pharmacy services. Charles and Fred J. Boyd actively worked to create a society for hospital pharmacists. In 1941 he became the founding president of the Society of Hospital Pharmaceutical Chemists which was the forerunner to The Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia. During Charles' time as president of the Society, he advocated strongly to ensure hospital appointed pharmacists and that patients had access to safe medicines.
