Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi is a Nigerian politician who served as the senator representing Delta North senatorial district in the Nigerian Senate from 2015 to 2023. He was sacked shortly after being announced senator-elect during the 2019 general elections by a Federal High Court in Abuja, following allegations that he was not validly elected by his political party. The Appeal Court in Abuja however overturned the decision on 30 May 2019. The lead judge held that the Federal High Court that nullified his election had no jurisdiction over the case.

The 2019 Delta State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. Incumbent PDP Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa won re-election for a second term, defeating APC's Great Ovedje Ogboru, and several minor party candidates.
The 2023 Delta State gubernatorial election was held on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Delta State, concurrent with elections to the Delta State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election — which was postponed from its original 11 March date — was held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was term-limited and could not seek re-election to a third term. Speaker of the House of Assembly Sheriff Oborevwori held the office for the PDP by a 18% margin over Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (APC).
The 2019 Nigerian Senate election in Delta State held on February 23, 2019, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Delta State. James Manager Ebiowou representing Delta North, Nwaoboshi Peter Onyeluka representing Delta South both won on the platform of the People's Democratic Party, while Ovie Omo-Agege representing Delta Central won on the platform of All Progressives Congress.
The 2011 Nigerian Senate election in Delta State was held on 9 April 2011, to elect members of the Nigerian Senate to represent Delta State. Ifeanyi Okowa representing Delta North and James Manager representing Delta South won on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, while Akpor Pius Ewherido representing Delta Central won on the platform of Democratic People's Party.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections were held on 25 February 2023 in all 109 senatorial districts where voters elected senators using first-past-the-post voting. The last regular senatorial elections for all districts were in 2019.
The 2023 Nigerian Senate elections in Delta State will be held on 25 February 2023, to elect the 3 federal Senators from Delta State, one from each of the state's three senatorial districts. The elections will coincide with the 2023 presidential election, as well as other elections to the Senate and elections to the House of Representatives; with state elections being held two weeks later. Primaries were held between 4 April and 9 June 2022.
