It was written by Brandyn Burnette, Lauren Christy, and Adrian Newman, and was produced by Newman. The song was first released in Canada through Universal Music Canada as the album's third single on May 17, 2012 and was subsequently released in the United States on June 12, 2012 as the album's lead single in that market. "Kiss You Inside Out" was also serviced to American hot adult contemporary radio on June 18, 2012.

Briannah Donolo, known professionally as Rêve, is a Canadian singer and songwriter, signed with 31 East / Universal Music Canada. Her single "Ctrl + Alt + Del" was certified gold in Canada on 15 February 2022.
Preston Pablo is a Canadian singer-songwriter from Timmins, Ontario. He is most noted as a three-time Juno Award nominee at the Juno Awards of 2023, winning the Breakthrough Artist of the Year award, and receiving nods for Single of the Year for "Flowers Need Rain", and the Fan Choice Award.
