Farkas was born on May 17, 1956, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. [1] He is a graduate of St. Petersburg Junior College, Palmer College of Chiropractic and Eckerd College. Farkas is married to Toni Lee Witkowski and has two children. He is Roman Catholic.
Farkas was a member of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2006. He is a Republican.

Ralph Straus Regula was an American politician from Ohio. A member of the Republican Party, he served in the Ohio House of Representatives, the Ohio State Senate and the United States House of Representatives. He represented Ohio's 16th congressional district for 18 terms from 1973 to 2009. In the 110th Congress (2007–2009), he was the second longest serving Republican member of the House of Representatives.
Carrie Mae Pittman Meek was the United States Representative for Florida's 17th congressional district, from 1993 to 2003. Having been elected in the September 1992 primary with no general election opponent, she was the first African American since the Reconstruction era elected to represent Florida in the United States Congress, where she advocated for the poor and for members of minority groups. Eckerd College is a private liberal arts college in St. Petersburg, Florida. Founded in 1958, part of the campus is waterfront and beach on Boca Ciega Bay. Because of its location, Eckerd is considered a "beach school" and has its own student volunteer maritime search and rescue team.
