Frank Mba is a Nigerian police officer and lawyer. He is currently serving as the Deputy Inspector General of Nigeria Police in charge of the Department of Research and Planning. [1] [ unreliable source? ] [2] [3]

Early life and education

Mba was born in Lagos State. He joined the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in 1992 as a cadet officer and was trained at the Nigeria Police Academy in Kano, where he graduated as the best cadet. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Lagos, where he also attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002. He further pursued a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) at the University of Dundee in Scotland, United Kingdom, graduating with Distinction. [1]

Career

Mba began his policing career as an Inspector and steadily rose through the ranks. In 1999, he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), followed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in 2003. He was promoted to Superintendent of Police (SP) in 2008, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) in 2012, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in 2014, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in 2018, and Commissioner of Police (CP) in December 2020. In March 2023, he was decorated as an Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG). [4]

Mba is a three-time National Spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force and has received the UN Medal for his service as a member of the Nigeria Police Contingent to the United Nations Mission in Liberia from 2006 to 2007. [1]

Mba is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Chattered Institute of Local Government and Public Administration of Nigeria (CILGPAN), and the Chattered Examiners of Criminology and Forensic Investigation Inc., USA (FCECFI). He is also a member of the International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals, USA (CFIP), the FBI National Academy Associates Inc. (FBINAA), and The International Emergency Management Society (TIEMS). [1]

Ivy Uche Okoronkwo, Ivy Okoronkwo was a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in the Nigerian Police. She was also the second in command to the then Inspector General of Police Mr. Hafiz Ringim. When she was appointed a DIG in Nigerian Police on 5 October 2010, she became the first female to be appointed a DIG. When she was an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) and posted to head Zone 7, she was also the first female officer to head a command. Abba Alhaji Kyari is a former Nigerian police officer who was a Deputy Commissioner of Police currently on suspension and relieved from all police duties pending the outcome of an internal investigation into his alleged connection with Gucci King, popular alleged fraudster Ramon Abbas "Hushpuppi". He was a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). Usman Alkali Baba CFR, was the 21st Nigerian Inspector General of Police. He was appointed by the President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari to replace Mohammed Adamu who retired from Nigeria Police Force in February 2021. The Police Council on Friday, June 4, 2021, confirmed the appointment of Alkali Usman Baba as the substantive Inspector General of Police.

Olatunji Disu is a Nigerian Police Officer, a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the immediate past head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Police Force in Nigeria, the position previously held by Abba Kyari. He is now Principal Staff Officer to the Acting Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun. Parry Benjamin Osemwegie Osayande is a retired Deputy Inspector General of police. He was the commissioner of police of the former Bendel state during the Anini saga which terrorised Nigeria in the 1980s. Under his watch as commissioner of police in the now defunct Bendel state, Lawrence Anini, the infamous armed robber was captured and executed. In 1990, Parry Osayande directed the operations which suppressed the Bauchi religious inspired riots in which several people died. In 1992, Osayande led the Federal Government delegation to Namibia under the auspices of the United Nations Transition Assistance Group to monitor the behaviour, conduct and activities of the South West African Police and assist Namibian citizens to hold free and fair elections. Osayande retired as Deputy Inspector General of police in 1992. He was later appointed as Chairman of the Police Service Commission in 2010 by the Goodluck Jonathan administration, a position he held until 2014. Osayande served in several committees set up by the Nigerian Federal Government to reform the Police force.

Kayode Egbetokun, is a Nigerian police officer who is the current and 22nd Inspector General of Police. He was appointed by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to replace Usman Alkali Baba.
