Thomas (Tony) Scholfield Foster was a New Zealand school principal and inspector, university lecturer. He was born in London, England, in 1853. On 29 August 1882, he married Emily Sophia Brittan, the daughter of Guise Brittan. His wife was the senior female teacher at Christchurch West High School, where he was the principal. His wife died on 30 December 1897 and Foster died on 8 September 1918. Both are buried at St Paul's Anglican Church, Papanui.

Jacob Wilson Wilkin was an American jurist from Ohio who served for nineteen years as a Justice and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Illinois. Arriving in Illinois at a young age, Wilkin graduated from McKendree College then enlisted to fight in the Civil War. He was mustered out with the rank of major and decided to pursue a career in law. Studying under future Justice of the Supreme Court of Illinois John Scholfield. Wilkin was elected to the Illinois circuit courts in 1879, then advanced to the Illinois Appellate Court in 1885. In 1888, Wilkin was elected as a Republican to the Supreme Court of Illinois. He served there until his death in 1907.

He played college basketball for the University of Kansas, where he was the starting point guard for the Jayhawks. Wooden Award, CBS Sports National Player of the Year, the USA Today, the Sporting News Player of the Year, Associated Press Player of the Year, Naismith College Player of the Year, Oscar Robertson Trophy, and NABC Player of the Year. He was also a consensus All-American selection for his senior season at Kansas.
