Frank Seravalli is an American sports reporter. He is a Hockey Insider and President of Hockey Content at Daily Faceoff and contributor to Sportsnet and Bally Sports broadcasts of the NHL. He was previously a Hockey Insider for Canadian sports network TSN.

Early life and education

Seravalli attended Pennsylvania State University and Columbia University. [1]

Career

Seravalli joined Daily Faceoff (DFO) in June 2021, helping launch the content wing of the DailyFaceoff web site. In addition to breaking news and reporting as an Insider, he oversees all content aspects of the site, co-hosts the Daily Faceoff Show digital stream and the DFO Rundown podcast. Additionally, he is a regular contributor to Canadian sports network Rogers Sportsnet on television and Sportsnet Radio, as well as American regional broadcaster Bally Sports throughout the hockey season.[ citation needed ]

On the morning of the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft, Seravalli stirred minor controversy by leaking most picks of the draft set to take place that evening, which some fans argued tainted the surprise and excitement of the event. [2] [3]

Prior to Daily Faceoff, Seravalli served at TSN as Senior Hockey Reporter from, breaking NHL news for TSN's web site. He regularly appeared on SportsCentre , That's Hockey , TSN Radio and other TSN Hockey specials from 2015 to 2021.

Seravalli began his career covering the Philadelphia Flyers at the Philadelphia Daily News for six seasons from 2009 to 2015.[ citation needed ]

In 2019, Seravalli was elected as president of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association (PHWA).

He played for 21 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Hartford Whalers (1984–1990), New York Islanders (1990–1995), New York Rangers (1995–1996), Los Angeles Kings (1996–1999), Atlanta Thrashers (1999–2002), and St. Louis Blues (2002).

David Hakstol is a Canadian professional ice hockey coach who is the head coach for the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). Hakstol was the head coach for Sioux City Musketeers for four seasons, followed by four years as an assistant at his alma mater, the University of North Dakota. He was promoted to head coach in 2004 and led the program for eleven seasons. Hakstol served as head coach of the Philadelphia Flyers from May 2015 to December 2018, and was an assistant coach for Canada's national men's team in 2017 and 2019.

From 2006 to 2008, NBC's studio show was originally broadcast out of the rink at New York's Rockefeller Center, at the foot of NBC's offices during January and February. David Holland Tomlinson is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre. He attended Boston University on a hockey scholarship from 1987-1991. After graduating, he played in the AHL and IHL and also compiled 42 games in the NHL for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets and Florida Panthers. He also played for Canada's National Team in various tournaments. After his NHL career, he went on to play 10 years of professional hockey in Europe. He is currently a colour commentator for the Vancouver Canucks on CBC Sports/Sportsnet.

NHL on Sportsnet is the blanket title for presentations of the National Hockey League broadcast held by a Canadian media corporation, Rogers Communications, showing on its television channel Sportsnet and other networks owned by or affiliated with its Rogers Media division, as well as the Sportsnet Radio chain. Sportsnet previously held the national cable rights for NHL regular season and playoff games from 1998 to 2002. In November 2013, Rogers reached a 12-year deal to become the exclusive national television and digital rightsholder for the NHL in Canada, beating out both CBC Sports and TSN.

Joey Daccord signed a contract with the Ottawa Senators, and then played with their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Belleville Senators, and their ECHL affiliate, the Brampton Beast. Daccord then signed with the Seattle Kraken, where he pushed their AHL affiliate, the Coachella Valley Firebirds, to the Calder Cup Final. The 2020–21 NHL season was the 104th season of operation of the National Hockey League (NHL). Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the regular season was reduced to 56 games and began on January 13, 2021. Due to COVID-19 cross-border travel restrictions imposed by the Government of Canada, the league temporarily realigned for this season, putting all seven Canadian teams into one division. COVID-19 outbreaks caused the games of most teams to be rescheduled beyond the regular season's original end date of May 8, with the last game being moved to May 19. The playoffs began four days earlier on May 15, under a 16-team format with the top four teams from each division.

The 2021–22 NHL season was the 105th season of operation of the National Hockey League (NHL). The league expanded to 32 teams with the addition of the Seattle Kraken. The league had an October-to-April regular season scheduling and a full 82-game regular season for the first time since the 2018–19 NHL season as the previous two NHL seasons were shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The game was played on January 1, 2024, between the two most recent NHL expansion teams: hosts Seattle Kraken and the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights. The Kraken won 3–0 and became the first team to earn a shutout in a Winter Classic.
