The Frank Wilcoxon Prize is awarded annually by the American Society for Quality and the American Statistical Association, for the best practical application paper in their joint journal Technometrics in the past year [1] . The first prize was established in 1969 [2] and continued every year thereafter [3] [4] [5] [6] .
The prize is named after Frank Wilcoxon, commemorating his achievements in statistics. It is presented at the Fall Technical conference organized jointly by the American Society for Quality and the American Statistical Association, together with the Jack Youden prize which was also established in 1969 [7] [8] . The Frank Wilcoxon Prize consists of a certificate and a cash honorarium of US$1000 (as of 2022).

Chemometrics is the science of extracting information from chemical systems by data-driven means. Chemometrics is inherently interdisciplinary, using methods frequently employed in core data-analytic disciplines such as multivariate statistics, applied mathematics, and computer science, in order to address problems in chemistry, biochemistry, medicine, biology and chemical engineering. In this way, it mirrors other interdisciplinary fields, such as psychometrics and econometrics.
Latin hypercube sampling (LHS) is a statistical method for generating a near-random sample of parameter values from a multidimensional distribution. The sampling method is often used to construct computer experiments or for Monte Carlo integration.

In databases, brushing and linking is the connection of two or more views of the same data, such that a change to the representation in one view affects the representation in the other. Brushing and linking is also an important technique in interactive visual analysis, a method for performing visual exploration and analysis of large, structured data sets.
The Nelson–Aalen estimator is a non-parametric estimator of the cumulative hazard rate function in case of censored data or incomplete data. It is used in survival theory, reliability engineering and life insurance to estimate the cumulative number of expected events. An "event" can be the failure of a non-repairable component, the death of a human being, or any occurrence for which the experimental unit remains in the "failed" state from the point at which it changed on. Peter J. Rousseeuw is a statistician known for his work on robust statistics and cluster analysis. He obtained his PhD in 1981 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, following research carried out at the ETH in Zurich, which led to a book on influence functions. Later he was professor at the Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands, at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, and at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. Next he was a senior researcher at Renaissance Technologies. He then returned to Belgium as professor at KU Leuven, until becoming emeritus in 2022. His former PhD students include Annick Leroy, Hendrik Lopuhaä, Geert Molenberghs, Christophe Croux, Mia Hubert, Stefan Van Aelst, Tim Verdonck and Jakob Raymaekers.
Paul R. Rosenbaum is the Robert G. Putzel Professor Emeritus in the Department of Statistics and Data Science at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he worked from 1986 through 2021. He has written extensively about causal inference in observational studies, including sensitivity analysis, optimal matching, design sensitivity, evidence factors, quasi-experimental devices, and the propensity score. With various coauthors, he has also written about health outcomes, racial disparities in health outcomes, instrumental variables, psychometrics and experimental design.
Jean Dickinson Gibbons is an American statistician, an expert in nonparametric statistics and an author of books on statistics. She was the first chair of the Committee on Women in Statistics of the American Statistical Association, and the Jean Dickinson Gibbons Graduate Program in Statistics at Virginia Tech is named for her.
Connie M. Borror was an American statistician and industrial engineer interested in quality control and forensic toxicology. She was named the winner of the Shewhart Medal of the American Society for Quality shortly before her death, for "outstanding technical leadership in the field of modern quality control, especially through the development to its theory, principles, and techniques", and became the first woman to win the medal.
Colin Lingwood Mallows is an English statistician, who has worked in the United States since 1960. He is known for Mallows's Cp, a regression model diagnostic procedure, widely used in regression analysis and the Fowlkes–Mallows index, a popular clustering validation criterion.
Daniela M. Witten is an American biostatistician. She is a professor and the Dorothy Gilford Endowed Chair of Mathematical Statistics at the University of Washington. Her research investigates the use of machine learning to understand high-dimensional data.
Xiaoqiong Joan Hu is a Chinese and Canadian statistician. Her research has involved pseudolikelihood, estimating functions, missing data, and varied applications of statistics. She is a professor of statistics at Simon Fraser University.
Frank Ephraim Grubbs was an American statistician. Grubbs's test for outliers, and the Mann-Grubbs method for calculating a binomial series lower confidence bound, are named after him.
Margaret Armstrong is an Australian geostatistician, mathematical geoscientist, and textbook author. She works as an associate professor in the School of Applied Mathematics at the Fundação Getúlio Vargas in Brazil, and as a research associate in the Centre for Industrial Economics of Mines ParisTech in France.
Sharon Lynn Lohr is an American statistician. She is an Emeritus Dean’s Distinguished Professor of Statistics at Arizona State University, and an independent statistical consultant. Her research interests include survey sampling, design of experiments, and applications of statistics in education and criminology.
Wayne Nelson is an American statistician. His main contributions to the reliability theory are the Nelson-Aalen Estimator for lifetime data, various statistical procedures for accelerated life testing and both: nonparametric and parametric procedures for recurrent data analysis.
Ajit C. Tamhane is a professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Sciences (IEMS) at Northwestern University and also holds a courtesy appointment in the Department of Statistics.
Carl-Erik Särndal is a Swedish-Canadian statistician. specializing in survey statistics. He held professorial appointments at Umeå University; University of British Columbia, Université de Montréal, and Statistics Sweden, Stockholm. He specialized in survey theory and methodology, especially with applications to official statistics production for a country. He worked, periodically, as researcher, expert and/or consultant, at national statistical agencies: Statistics Canada (Ottawa), Statistics Sweden (Stockholm) and Statistics Finland (Helsinki).
