Franklin Erepamo Osaisai (born October 1, 1958) is a Nigerian nuclear engineer, energy scientist and former Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission [1] [2]

Life and career

He had his secondary education in Bayelsa State, where he obtained the West Africa School Certificate (WASC) in June 1977. He attended the University of Port Harcourt where he obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.sc) degree in chemistry from the School of Chemical Sciences of the university in May 1981. He later received a graduate scholarship award, that earned him a master's and Doctorate (P.hD) degree in Nuclear engineering (1984-1987) from the University of California. [3] He started his career at the University of California as a lecturer before he joined the service of the University of Port Harcourt where he specialized in Nuclear Reactor Engineering. [4] He later became the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) under the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Dr. A. Q. Khan Research Laboratories, or KRL for short, is a federally funded, multi-program national research institute and national laboratory site primarily dedicated to uranium enrichment, supercomputing and fluid mechanics. It is managed by the Ministry of Energy for the for the Government of Pakistan via partnership between the universities through the security contractor Strategic Plans Division Force due to its sensitivity. The site is located in Kahuta, a short distance north-east of Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan.

Dennis Ray Spurgeon is a former Assistant Secretary for Nuclear Energy within the United States Department of Energy. He was sworn in on April 3, 2006, becoming the most senior nuclear technology official in the American government. In addition, he is the leader of the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership, a strategy aimed at accelerating the demonstration of a more proliferation resistant closed fuel cycle and reducing the possibility that nuclear energy could be used for non-peaceful purposes. In his capacity as Assistant Secretary, he has previously served as Acting Under Secretary of Energy for Energy and Environment.

Sir John Philip Baxter was a British chemical engineer. He was the second director of the University of New South Wales from 1953, continuing as vice-chancellor when the position's title was changed in 1955. Under his administration, the university grew from its technical college roots into the "fastest growing and most rapidly diversifying tertiary institution in Australia". Philip Baxter College is named in his honour.

Dr. Aliyu AbdullahiOON is a Nigerian Civil servant who joined the Civil Service in August 1988 and became a Permanent Secretary in January 2001. In 2003, he was appointed Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology. In July 2007, Abdullahi Aliyu said that he had received a presidential mandate to explore the use of nuclear energy in Nigeria for the generation of electricity.

Alvin Roubal Luedecke was a United States Army Air Forces general during World War II. He commanded the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project after the war. After retiring from the Air Force in 1958, he was General Manager of the United States Atomic Energy Commission, Deputy Director of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and acting President of Texas A&M University from March 30, 1970, to November 1, 1970.

He is a former project director of the Rare Materials Project, Mysore and a member of the Atomic Energy Commission of India. Bhattacharjee, a recipient of the civilian honour of the Padma Shri, is best known for his contributions in the development of gas centrifugal technology for the High Speed Rotors (HSR), used in the production of enriched Uranium and other strategic materials, at BARC.
