Sanford Koufax is an American former baseball pitcher who played 12 seasons in Major League Baseball for the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers from 1955 to 1966. He has been hailed as one of the greatest pitchers in baseball history. Koufax joined the major leagues at age 19 and had never pitched a game in the minor leagues. As a result,the first half of his career was marred with inconsistency and control problems with flashes of brilliance in between. After making adjustments prior to the 1961 season to improve his control and also getting more regular playing time than he ever had before,Koufax quickly rose to become the most dominant pitcher in the major leagues before arthritis in his pitching elbow ended his career prematurely at age 30.
Juan Antonio Marichal Sánchez,nicknamed "the Dominican Dandy",is a Dominican former right-handed pitcher who played 16 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1960 to 1975,mostly with the San Francisco Giants. Known for his high leg kick,variety of pitches,arm angles and deliveries,pinpoint control,and durability,Marichal won 18 games to help the Giants reach the 1962 World Series,and went on to earn 191 victories in the 1960s,the most of any major league pitcher. He won over 20 games six times,on each occasion posting an earned run average (ERA) below 2.50 and striking out more than 200 batters,and became the first right-hander since Bob Feller to win 25 games three times;his 26 wins in 1968 remain a franchise record.

Upon retirement,he became one of the first African-American coaches in the major leagues.

In 1974 he was presented with the King of Baseball award given by Minor League Baseball.
Robert Ransom Rush was an American professional baseball pitcher who appeared in 417 games in Major League Baseball from 1948 to 1960 for the Chicago Cubs,Milwaukee Braves and Chicago White Sox. He threw and batted right-handed,stood 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) tall and weighed 205 pounds (93 kg). Rush was a National League All-Star selection in 1950 and 1952. Although he was a starting pitcher for the Cubs for ten seasons,and worked in 339 total games for them,he did not reach the postseason until he was a Milwaukee Brave,when he appeared in the 1958 World Series.
