Frederico Barbosa (born Recife, Pernambuco on February 20, 1961) is a Brazilian poet. [1]
Barbosa moved with his family to São Paulo, where he currently lives, when he was six. He lived for some time in the United States, in New Haven, Connecticut, Cambridge, Massachusetts and Austin, Texas.
Barbosa began undergraduate studies in physics and Greek at the University of São Paulo, where he majored in Portuguese Language and Brazilian and Portuguese Literature. He never completed his master's program in Brazilian Literature.
A literary critic at the Jornal da Tarde and Folha de S.Paulo for some years, he currently directs one of the most important cultural centers in Brazil, the Casa das Rosas - Espaço Haroldo de Campos de Poesia e Literatura.
His poems have been published in various journals in Brazil. His first book, Rarefato (Editora Iluminuras, 1990), was chosen by the newspapers O Estado de S. Paulo and O Estado de Minas (Belo Horizonte) as one of the best books published in the country that year.
His second book, Nada Feito Nada (Editora Perspectiva,1993), was published by the prestigious Coleção Signos, edited by Haroldo de Campos, and was awarded the most important literary prize in the country, the Jabuti Prize.
Recently, his poems have been translated and published in anthologies in several countries, as the United States, Australia, Mexico, Spain and Colombia.
In 2000, Frederico Barbosa published Cinco Séculos de Poesia - Anthology of Classic Brazilian Poetry, (Landy Editora) and Contracorrente - poems, (Iluminuras). In 2001 Frederico Barbosa published an annotaded edition of the episodes Inês de Castro and O Velho do Restelo, from The Lusíadas, by Luís de Camões (Landy Editora) and released his fourth book of poetry, Louco no Oco sem Beiras - Anatomia da Depressão, by Ateliê Editorial.
In 2002 Frederico Barbosa published, with Claudio Daniel, an anthology of contemporary Brazilian poetry, Na Virada do Século - Poesia de Invenção no Brasil (Landy Editora) and released his fifth book of poetry, Cantar de amor entre os escombros, also by Landy. For this publishing house, he created and edits the Alguidar Collection. In 2004 he published A Consciência do Zero (Lamparina) and won his second Jabuti Prize with Brasibraseiro.
In 2016, Frederico started working at Colégio Equipe.
Hilda Hilst was a Brazilian poet, novelist, and playwright. She is lauded as one of the most important Portuguese-language authors of the twentieth century. Her work touches on the themes of mysticism, insanity, the body, eroticism, and female sexual liberation. Hilst greatly revered the work of James Joyce and Samuel Beckett and the influence of their styles like stream of consciousness and fractured reality in her own work.
Haroldo de Campos was a Brazilian poet, critic, professor and translator. He is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in Brazilian Literature since 1950.

Alfredo Bosi was a Brazilian historian, literary critic, and professor. He was a member of the Academia Brasileira de Letras, occupying Chair number 12. One of his most famous books is História Concisa da Literatura Brasileira, widely used in Brazilian universities in literature courses. Bosi also wrote several studies about Italian literature and about major Brazilian writers as well as essays on the field of hermeneutics.
Philadelpho Menezes. Brazilian poet, visual poet, pioneer of new media poetry, professor in the Communication and Semiotics post-graduation program at the Pontifical University of São Paulo. He performed research for his post-graduate degree at the University of Bologna, in Italy (1990). With Brazilian artist Wilton Azevedo Philadepho Menezes created a pioneer intermedia-poetry CD-ROM: "InterPoesia. Poesia Hipermidia Interativa" (1998). In Italy he collaborated with the first net-poetry project: Karenina.it, by Italian artist Caterina Davinio.
Luis Carlos Verzoni Nejar, better known as Carlos Nejar, is a Brazilian poet, author, translator and critic, and a member of the Academia Brasileira de Letras. One of the most important poets of its generation, Nejar, also called "o poeta do pampa brasileiro", is distinguished for his use of an extensive vocabulary, alliteration, and pandeism. His first book, Sélesis, was published in 1960.
João Almino is a Brazilian novelist. He is the author of The Brasília Quintet, which consists of the novels Ideas on Where to Spend the End of the World, Samba-Enredo, The Five Seasons of Love ; The Book of Emotions and Cidade Livre. His 2015 novelEnigmas da Primavera was published in English in 2016 by Dalkey Archive Press. His most recent and seventh novel was published in November 2017 in Brazil: Entre facas, algodão. He has also authored books of philosophical and literary essays. He taught at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), at the University of Brasília (UnB), the Instituto Rio Branco, Berkeley, Stanford and The University of Chicago. In 2017, he was elected as one of the 40 members of the Brazilian Academy of Letters.
Manoel Wenceslau Leite de Barros was a Brazilian poet. He won many awards for his work, including twice the Prêmio Jabuti, the most important literary award in Brazil.
The São Paulo Prize for Literature is a Brazilian literary prize for novels written in the Portuguese language and published in Brazil. It was established in 2008 by the Secretary of Culture for the State of São Paulo. Though not as old as other literary prizes in Brazil, such as the Machado de Assis Prize, the São Paulo Prize has quickly risen in prestige. For example, in 2011, there were 221 submissions for the prize. This rapid rise in popularity is partly because of the large cash prize. Every year two prizes of R$200,000 each are awarded—one for the best novel of the year by an established author, and the other for the best novel of the year by a debut author—making the São Paulo Prize the largest prize for a published work in Brazil, and one of the largest literary prizes in the world. Ten finalists are listed for each award, during the Festival da Mantiqueira, and the winners are announced on the first Monday of August in the Museum of the Portuguese Language.
Luiz Fernando Ruffato de Souza is a contemporary Brazilian writer. An alumnus of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, Ruffato worked as a journalist in São Paulo and published several fiction books including Historia das Remorsos e Rancores (1998) and Eles eram muitos cavalos [They were Many Horses] (2001). The latter book garnered the APCA literary prize.

His children's books deal about traditional indigenous life and tales and have been awarded several prizes. Munduruku holds three undergraduate degrees in Philosophy, History and Psychology. He has a master's degree in Social Anthropology and a doctorate in Education by the University of São Paulo.
