G. Bikshapathy

G. Bikshapathy is a retired justice of High Court of Andhra Pradesh in India. He was elevated to the constitutional post as additional judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court in 1995 and then as judge in 1997 till he retired in 2005. He is a supporter of weaker sections[ citation needed ] and dealt extensively with labour and service matters. He advocated taking up the cases on behalf of both national and state level trade unions.

G. Bikshapathy was born on May 3, 1943, at Karmanghat village, then district of Hyderabad, now in Telangana. [1]

Professional career

After finishing his diploma in commerce in 1962, he worked for 13 years in various departments of public sector companies. While working, he obtained his B.Com at evening college. Later, he passed his LLB and then a master's degree in labour laws. [1]

Commerce relates to "the exchange of goods and services, especially on a large scale". It includes legal, economic, political, social, cultural and technological systems that operate in a country or in international trade.

He started working as advocate from 1975, working mainly on labour and service related cases. He was a trusted advocate for handling cases related to trade unions at both state and national levels. [1]

Later he worked for a short period as a government pleader in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh and was a legal advisor to several undertakings, both in the private and public sector. [1]

On May 2, 1995, he was appointed as additional judge of Andhra Pradesh High Court. He became a judge there in 1997 and retired on May 3, 2005. [1]

He also acted as chairman of a fact-finding committee to investigate the allegations on Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, a former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh for his support to sell 7000 acres of Tirupati temple lands and illegal encroachment by churches and its missionaries. [2] The committee also investigated allegations of the church carrying out evangelical activities on Tirupati hills associated with Hindu community with the support of Reddy and his son-in-law Anil Kumar, a Brahmin-convert evangelist and preacher. The committee reported its findings after conducting a public enquiry. [3]

Justice P. Chandra Reddy or Palagani Chandra Reddy was an Indian judge. He was educated at V.R. High School, Nellore and Pachaiyappa’s College in Madras. He was appointed as an advocate at the Madras High Court on 13 August 1928. He had practised civil and criminal cases. He was appointed as an additional judge at the same court on 16 July 1949. He was appointed as a permanent Judge at Andhra State High Court on its formation from 5 July 1954, and later became the acting Chief Justice of the court. He was appointed as the permanent of Andhra High Court on 16 June 1958.

Yeduguri Sandinti Jaganmohan Reddy, is an Indian politician serving as the 17th and current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He is the leader of YSR Congress Party, and was Leader of opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 16 May 2014 until 23 May 2019. He is the son of the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He started his political career by campaigning for Indian National Congress in 2004 elections in Kadapa District, and in the 2009 elections he was elected as Member of Parliament from Kadapa constituency as a member of the Indian National Congress.

Pavani Parameswara Rao was a Senior Advocate practising in the Supreme Court of India. Widely considered a doyen of Constitutional Law, he had argued a number of landmark cases before the Supreme Court. He died on 13 September 2017 in a private hospital in South Delhi following a cardiac arrest, India.

Samaikyandhra Movement

Samaikya Andhra Movement was a movement organized to keep the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh united, and to prevent the division of the state - separating the Telangana districts of the state into a separate Telangana state. The movement was supported by government employees, advocates in Coastal Andhra & Rayalaseema regions along with students from 14 universities, various occupational, caste & religious groups of Coastal Andhra & Rayalaseema regions. The last set of protests were triggered after the Congress Working Committee decision to divide the state came to an end after President of India gave nod to Telangana Bill which would make the latter to come into existence from 2 June 2014.

YSR Congress Party Political party in India

YSR Congress Party, an acronym for Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party which literally means Youth, Labour and Farmer's Congress Party, is an Indian regional political party in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. Currently, its president is Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy, the son of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
