Before 2015, the constituency was in the Hunza-Nagar District. In 2015, when Nagar was made a separate district, GBA-4 was made its constituency.

Doctor Muhammad Ali Haidar died of cardiac arrest in February 2017. Javed Hussain of PPP won by securing 6888 votes. [3]
In the 2020 elections, Amjad Hussain Azar of PPP won 6104 seats and got his seat.

Nagar was a princely salute state in the northern part of Gilgit–Baltistan, Pakistan. Until August 1947, it was in a subsidiary alliance with British India. It bordered the states of the Gilgit Agency to the south and west, and the princely state of District Hunza to the north and east. From November 1947 to 1974 it was a princely state of Pakistan. The state capital was the town of Nagar.
Sardar Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar ; 12 January 1967 – 21 May 2019) was a Pakistani politician who served as the 25th Chief Minister of Sindh from 2002 to 2004 and then as the Federal Minister for Narcotics Control between 2018 and 2019.

Previously, he was a member of the National Assembly between 1997 and May 2018. He served as Minister for Commerce and Textile, in Abbasi Cabinet from August 2017 to May 2018. On 11 October 2021; PMLN Senior Leader & Member of National Assembly Muhammad Pervaiz Malik got a sudden cardiac arrest. Later he was shifted to Hospital but did not survive. His brother Javed Akram confirmed the death of PMLN leader in the evening.

Nawaz Khan Naji is a Pakistani politician who is member-elect of the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly. First nationalist leader to be part of GB assembly consecutively, three times (2012–16,2016–20,2020–24). He was born in a village, Sherqilla, in District Ghizer. He graduated in political science from Karachi University Sindh. He came back to GB and founded his own nationalist political party, Balawaristan National Front, on 28 December 1989. Naji is famous among educated youth especially studying in Down areas of Pakistan.
