Gabriel Dyck (born July 21, 1999) is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. He is currently the lead of the Alberta Golden Bears men's curling team [1] in university curling and on the World Curling Tour.
Dyck won two provincial U18 championships, in 2016 and 2018. Dyck played second along with Ryan Jacques, Zachary Pawliuk, and Michael Henricks at the 2016 U18 International Curling Championships in Edmonton, AB. Dyck, at second, again represented Alberta at the 2018 Canadian U18 Championships in St. Andrews, New Brunswick along with Ryan Jacques, Dustin Mikush and Michael Henricks. Team Alberta earned a spot in the final by defeating defending U18 national champion, Northern Ontario, skipped by Jacob Horgan. Alberta earned the silver medal, losing to Nova Scotia, skipped by Graeme Weagle. [2] Dyck was awarded the Fair Play Award, voted on by the event officials, at the Championship. [3]
Dyck won two Alberta Junior Curling titles in 2019 and 2020, playing lead. Dyck, Jacob Libbus, Dustin Mikush and Desmond Young represented Alberta at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in 2019, finishing 5th overall. [4] Dyck again represented Alberta at the Canadian Junior Curling Championships in Langley, British Columbia in 2020 with teammates Andrew Gittis, Desmond Young and Ryan Jacques, finishing 4th overall. [5]
With their 4th-place finish at the 2020 Canadian Juniors, Dyck and teammates Jacques and Young were selected alongside Newfoundland players Ryan McNeil Lamswood and Joel Krats to represent Canada at the 2021 World Junior Curling Championships in Beijing, China. [6] The COVID-19 pandemic would see the event cancelled.
Dyck has played lead for the University of Alberta Golden Bears since 2019. In his two appearances at the CanWest Curling Championships, in 2022 & 2023, Dyck and teammates went undefeated earning gold both times. [7] [8] Dyck won the All Star Lead award at both his appearances.
As a result of his 2022 All Star Lead award, Dyck was named University of Alberta Athlete of the Week in February 2022. [9]
Dyck is a 2020-2021 For the Love of Curling Scholarship recipient [10]
Dyck is a two-time, 2020-2021 & 2021-2022?, U-SPORTS Academic All-Canadian (AAC) recognizing varsity athletes who maintain a 3.2 GPA average while competing. [11] [12]
Dyck has been playing on the World Curling Tour since 2017. Dyck and teammates Andrew Gittis, Desmond Young and Ryan Jacques won their first WCT event at the 2020 McKee Homes Fall Curling Classic. [13] They also won the 2021 Vesta Energy Curling Classic in Red Deer, Alberta defeating Colton Flasch in the final. [14]
Dyck played in his first Grand Slam event with teammates Andrew Gittis, Desmond Young and Ryan Jacques at the 2022 Kioti Tractor Champions Cup Grand Slam Players Championship in Olds, Alberta, [15] earning one win against team Karsten Sturmay.
Dyck and teammates Gittis, Young and Jacques narrowly missed playoffs at the 2023 Boston Pizza Cup Alberta Men's Provincial Curling Championships at the Enoch Cree Nation, Alberta. [16]
Dyck was awarded the Bo Davidiuk award for sweeping prowess, team support and sportsmanship, voted on by the players, at the 2023 Boston Pizza Cup. [17]
Dyck coached the University of Alberta mixed doubles curling team of Emma Wiens/Andrew Nowell through the 2022–2023 season. [18]
Dyck is a University of Alberta graduate student and coaches in the University of Alberta's junior curling development program. [19]
John C. Morris is a Canadian curler, and two-time Olympic gold medallist from Canmore, Alberta. Morris played third for the Kevin Martin team until April 24, 2013. Morris, author of the book Fit to Curl, is the son of Maureen and Earle Morris, inventor of the "Stabilizer" curling broom. Morris grew up in Gloucester, Ontario and at the age of five began curling at the Navy Curling Club.
Kevin Koe is a Canadian curler. Koe is a two-time World champion and four-time Canadian champion. He was the skip of the Canadian men's team at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.
Brendan Michael Bottcher is a Canadian curler from Spruce Grove, Alberta. Bottcher is a three-time provincial men's champion, and was the skip of the 2021 Canadian men's championship team, having led Alberta to victory at the 2021 Tim Hortons Brier.
Brendan "B. J." Neufeld is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He started curling around the age of ten and, like older brother Denni Neufeld, cites the achievements of his father as leading his interest into the game of curling. His father is Chris Neufeld who was a three-time Manitoba curling champion and one time Labatt Brier champion in 1992 as part of the Vic Peters team.
Geoff Walker is a Canadian curler, currently living in Edmonton, Alberta. He currently plays lead for the Brad Gushue rink. He was the Men's World Champion in 2017 and won silver the following year in 2018. A six-time national champion, he won the Brier in 2017, 2018, 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Walker was a two-time World Junior Champion when he won gold in 2006 and 2007.
Colton Flasch is a Canadian curler currently residing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He currently plays third on Team Mike McEwen.
Michael "Mick" (Micky) Lizmore is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta.
Karsten Sturmay is a Canadian curler originally from Leduc, Alberta. He is formerly the skip of the Alberta Golden Bears men's curling team in university curling and on the World Curling Tour.
Darren Moulding is a Canadian curler from Lacombe, Alberta and curls out of the Saville Sports Centre and the Lacombe Curling Club. He currently coaches and is the alternate on Team Evan van Amsterdam. He is a former Canadian Junior Silver Medallist, a Canadian Mixed Champion, and represented Alberta in the 2017, 2018, 2020 and Team Wild Card in the 2019 Brier Canadian men's championship.
Bradley Thiessen is a Canadian curler. He was a long-time member of the Brendan Bottcher rink, throwing second stones for the team until 2022. With Bottcher, he won the 2021 Tim Hortons Brier and represented Canada at the 2021 World Men's Curling Championship.
Chelsea Brandwood is a Canadian curler from St. Catharines, Ontario. She currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Her hometown is Beamsville, Ontario.
Ryan Jacques is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. He is currently the skip of the Alberta Golden Bears men's curling team in university curling and on the World Curling Tour. Jacques was slated to represent Canada at the 2021 World Junior Curling Championships in Beijing, China, but the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Andrew Gittis is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. He is currently the second of the Alberta Golden Bears men's curling team in university curling and on the World Curling Tour. Gittis is a dual citizen of the United States and Canada, and is now living in Canada full-time.
Joel Krats is a Canadian curler originally from Newfoundland and Labrador. He currently plays third for Team James Grattan.
Selena Sturmay is a Canadian curler from Edmonton, Alberta. She currently skips her own team out of the Saville Community Sports Centre.
Owen Purcell is a Canadian curler from Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia. He currently skips his team out of Halifax Curling Club. He is most notable for winning multiple Canadian junior titles and representing Canada at the 2022 World Junior Curling Championships.
