Gabriel (Gabe) Rhodes (born in 1974 in Sunset, Texas) is an American folk and country music musician and producer based in Austin, Texas.

Perhaps best known as an electric and acoustic guitar player, Rhodes is a multi-instrumentalist who has also performed and/or recorded playing piano, dobro, bass, theremin, and percussion.

His contribution to Willie Nelson's The Rainbow Connection was noted in the review of the record by the Austin Chronicle: "Most Valuable Prodigy goes to fleet-fingered Gabe Rhodes, who continues to hit in the big leagues". [1] A Dallas Observer review of Owen Temple's Dollars and Dimes , commented on "the moody, understated accompaniment from producer Gabriel Rhodes and backing players [that] fits the mood like an old pair of Levi's". [2]

He has produced and recorded projects for Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver, Kimmie Rhodes, Waylon Jennings, Ray Price, Emmylou Harris, James Burton, Jimmy LaFave, Owen Temple, Paula Nelson, Dick Rivers, Beth Nielsen Chapman, Kieran Goss, Folk Uke, and Calvin Russell, among others. He has contributed to more than 17 nationally distributed albums in the last ten years. [3] He also contributed production duties to Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster, which won a Grammy for Best Traditional Folk Album in 2005. [4]

His composing and arranging work for film includes composing the music for the PBS-aired documentary Writ Writer [5] [6] and co-producing music with Bob Ezrin for the feature film, Babe: Pig in the City . [7]

In 2013, Rhodes collaborated with Paul Marsteller to produce The Beautiful Old, a collection of new recordings of turn-of-the-century songs, with songs performed by Richard Thompson, Garth Hudson, Graham Parker, Jimmy LaFave, Will Sexton, among others. [8] The Daily Telegraph called it a "super musical history lesson" and the Austin Chronicle described it as a "musical time machine." [9] [10]

In 2020, Rhodes contributed guitar solo work along with Mark Knopfler, Peter Frampton, and Duane Eddy as part of an all-star charity recording of Ben E. King's classic song "Stand by Me" performed by "some of the finest musicians on earth, all contributing their parts from isolation in locations across the world." [11]

Shotgun Willie is the 16th studio album by American country music singer-songwriter Willie Nelson, released on June 11, 1973. The recording marks a change of style for Nelson, who later stated that the album "cleared his throat". When Nelson refused to sign an early extension of his contract with RCA Records in 1972, the label decided not to release any further recordings. Nelson hired Neil Reshen as his manager, and while Reshen negotiated with RCA, Nelson moved to Austin, Texas, where the ongoing hippie music scene at the Armadillo World Headquarters renewed his musical style. In Nashville, Nelson met producer Jerry Wexler, vice president of Atlantic Records, who was interested in his music. Reshen solved the problems with RCA and signed Nelson with Atlantic as their first country music artist.

Like Mike: Music From the Motion Picture is the soundtrack to the 2002 film, Like Mike. It was released on July 2, 2002 through So So Def Recordings and consisted of hip hop and contemporary R&B with production from the likes of Jermaine Dupri, The Neptunes and Alicia Keys. The soundtrack spawned two singles, the first being "Basketball", a cover of Kurtis Blow's 1984 song, performed by Lil' Bow Wow featuring Jermaine Dupri, Fabolous and Fundisha. The other is "Take Ya Home" by Lil' Bow Wow, taken from his second album Doggy Bag, which serves as the theme song for the film. It also features music from Amerie, Jagged Edge, Solange and more. David Huntsinger is a pianist, composer, songwriter, and arranger who moved from his native California to Nashville, TN, in 1976 and played for the Rambos. He co-wrote the song, "Holy Spirit, Thou Art Welcome", with Dottie Rambo, as well as the children’s musical, Down By The Creek Bank. In 1979 he left the Rambos to pursue a career as a studio pianist. He wrote and arranged music for the 1989 Grammy-winning album A Child’s Gift of Lullabyes, and arranged for and co-produced Andy Griffith’s 1996 Grammy-winning album, I Love To Tell The Story: 25 Timeless Hymns. He has worked with many artists, such as Sandi Patti, Steve Green, Kathy Troccoli, Michael Crawford, Glen Campbell, Carman, Larnelle Harris, Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton. He toured with Vince Gill for a Christmas tour in 1999, and in 2001 for the Amy Grant/Vince Gill Christmas tour. He played the piano for An Unfinished Life, and contributed to two songs heard in The Great Debaters. He arranged for and played piano in the 1997 Christmas album Piano Winterlude (Unison). Kimmie Rhodes is an American singer-songwriter. She has recorded and released a total of sixteen solo CDs, written and produced three musicals and published a novella/cookbook, served as an associate producer for a documentary, They Called Us Outlaws presented by the Country Music Hall of Fame and produced radio documentary/music programming for her show Radio Dreams, which focused on the history of American roots music and artists. She has also appeared in multiple films and a theatre production, Is There Life After Lubbock? Her songs have appeared on multiple television and film soundtracks. She has established and released her own records on her label, Sunbird Music for over 25 years. Kimmie's promotional tours created a solid fan base in the U.K., Ireland and Europe. She has headlined with her band at festivals throughout the world and has appeared on many European and American TV and radio broadcasts and at Willie Nelson's Farm Aid concerts and July 4 Picnics. Together with Willie Nelson she recorded two of her originals for his album Just One Love and a duet CD, "Picture in a Frame". She lives and records in Austin and tours internationally with her son and producer/multi-instrumentalist, Gabriel Rhodes.
