Gajendra Prasad Sinha (born 19 March 1919,date of death unknown) was an Indian politician. He was elected to the Lok Sabha,the lower house of the Parliament of India from Palamu,Bihar as a member of the Indian National Congress. [1] [2] [3]
The Rajya Sabha,constitutionally the Council of States,is the upper house of the bicameral Parliament of India. As of 2021 it has a maximum membership of 245,of which 233 are elected by the legislatures of the states and union territories using single transferable votes through open ballots,while the president can appoint 12 members for their contributions to art,literature,science,and social services. The potential seating capacity of the Rajya Sabha is 245,according to article 80 of the Indian Constitution. Members sit for staggered terms lasting six years,with about a third of the 238 designates up for election every two years,in even-numbered years. The Rajya Sabha meets in continuous sessions,and unlike the Lok Sabha,being the lower house of the Parliament,the Rajya Sabha is not subjected to dissolution. However,the Rajya Sabha,like the Lok Sabha,can be prorogued by the president.
The Lok Sabha,constitutionally the House of the People,is the lower house of India's bicameral Parliament,with the upper house being the Rajya Sabha. Members of the Lok Sabha are elected by an adult universal suffrage and a first-past-the-post system to represent their respective constituencies,and they hold their seats for five years or until the body is dissolved by the President on the advice of the council of ministers. Purno Agitok Sangma was an Indian politician who served as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1996 to 1998 and Chief Minister of Meghalaya from 1988 to 1990. He was the candidate for the 2012 Indian presidential election,supported by BJP,however he lost to Congress politician Shri Pranab Mukherjee. He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan,India's second highest civilian award,posthumously in 2017 in the field of Public Affairs and was the first recipient of Padma Vibhushan from Meghalaya.
The Parliament of India is the supreme legislative body of the Republic of India. It is a bicameral legislature composed of the president of India and two houses:the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha. The president in his role as head of the legislature has full powers to summon and prorogue either house of Parliament or to dissolve the Lok Sabha. Indrajit Gupta was an Indian politician who belonged to the Communist Party of India (CPI). From 1996 to 1998,he served as Union Home Minister in the United Front governments of prime ministers H. D. Deve Gowda and I. K. Gujral. That was a dramatic reversal of roles,as the home ministry had,since independence in 1947,banned the CPI thrice,with many of its members,including Gupta,being sent to prison or pushed underground for long stretches. He was the longest-serving member having been elected eleven times to the Lok Sabha the lower house of Indian Parliament.He suffered his only electoral reverse when he lost to Ashok Krishna Dutt in 1977 after the CPI supported Emergency.
General elections were held in India in April–May 1996 to elect the members of the 11th Lok Sabha. The result of the election was a hung parliament,which would see three Prime Ministers in two years and force the country back to the polls in 1998. Atal Bihari Vajpayee of Bharatiya Janata Party,the single largest party to win this election,winning 67 more seats than previous 10th Lok Sabha,formed the government which lasted for only 13 days.

Narayan Sadoba Kajrolkar was an Indian independence activist,Gandhian and social worker,best known as the man who defeated B. R. Ambedkar in a general election. A Marathi by birth,he served as a personal assistant to Ambedkar,before contesting against him in the first Lok Sabha elections from the Mumbai North Central constituency in 1952 and defeated the latter by over 15000 votes. Unlike membership to the Lok Sabha,membership to the Rajya Sabha is permanent body and cannot be dissolved at any time. However every second year,one third of the members are retired and vacancy are filled up by fresh elections and Presidential nomination at the beginning of every third year.
