Games-X was a multi-format weekly computer and video game magazine published in the United Kingdom. It was launched in May 1991. [1] The publisher was Europress. [1] Editor Hugh Gollner later described it "a big mistake" in terms of finances. [2]

First published as a weekly online magazine by Themis Media on July 12, 2005, The Escapist eventually pivoted to a traditional web journalism format. In 2018, Escapist Magazine launched Volume Two, a rehauled website in conjunction with its purchase by Enthusiast Gaming. The site name reverted to The Escapist in April 2020. Reviews featured a five star rating system and an independent expert from other magazines gave additional comments on the bigger reviews. Other more action orientated games were given smaller coverage in a dedicated round up section. Content wise, the magazine featured news, articles, reviews, previews, tips and columns on all things gaming. Hugh Gollner, publisher and owner of Maverick Magazines, granted Out-of-Print Archive permission to release digital versions of the magazine.
