Gareth Cousins is a British recording engineer and music producer best known for his score mixing work on films such as Gravity , The Aeronauts , Baby Driver , Suicide Squad , The Hunt , Fury , The World's End , Notting Hill , [1] Dark City and From Hell .
Originally trained at Abbey Road Studios, Cousins became a freelance engineer and producer in 1994, and started composing music for TV and film from 2004, forming Gareth Cousins Music Productions for this purpose. [2]
In 1995, he recorded and mixed Vanessa-Mae's groundbreaking album The Violin Player , which went on to sell over 8 million albums worldwide
In 2000 he produced the first tracks for the crossover classical string quartet Bond, used on the album Born . The album subsequently achieved gold status in 14 countries and platinum in 12.
He was nominated for Golden Reel Award in 2005 for music editing work on Batman Begins .
In 2007, Cousins composed theme song and underscore the music for the long running TV series, The Beeps.
He won the Cinema Audio Society Awards 2013 for Outstanding Achievement for Sound Mixing in a Motion Picture for his score mixing work on Gravity. [3] In 2015 he was honoured with the TEC Award for Outstanding Creative achievement as score mixer for the same film. [4]
His composition work is usually published by Eaton Music. [5]

A production sound mixer, location sound recordist, location sound engineer, or simply sound mixer is the member of a film crew or television crew responsible for recording all sound recording on set during the filmmaking or television production using professional audio equipment, for later inclusion in the finished product, or for reference to be used by the sound designer, sound effects editors, or foley artists. This requires choice and deployment of microphones, choice of recording media, and mixing of audio signals in real time.

Sleeper Cell is an American one-hour drama on the Showtime network that began airing on December 4, 2005. The tagline for the first season was "Friends. Neighbors. Husbands. Terrorists." and the tagline for the second season was "Cities. Suburbs. Airports. Targets." The series was nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Miniseries. The eight-episode second season of the series, titled Sleeper Cell: American Terror, premiered on December 10, 2006. Both seasons of Sleeper Cell were originally aired in an unusual fashion, by filming the entire season ahead of time and then airing the episodes on consecutive nights, such that each brand new season was aired for the first time over a period of less than two weeks. In Australia, both seasons originally aired on the Showtime Australia channel in 2006/2007. Re-runs as of 2008 have screened on the showcase channel.
