Garry Willmington (born 1 September 1952) is a former driver in the Australian Touring Car Challenge who raced between 1978 and 2000. [2]
Willmington opened the Marulan Driver Training Centre in 2009, a track that offers driver's education and hosts motorsport events. He is also credited with the creation of a new category that created a pathway for older models of touring cars to continue to compete. [3]
Willmington was a privateer racing driver for Australian Touring Cars (now known as the Supercars Championship). During his career, he competed in several Bathurst 1000 s. He achieved a class win during the 1987 race, driving a Toyota Sprinter AE86. [3]
Willmington created the Marulan Driver Training Centre in New South Wales (now called Pheasant Wood) in 2009. They start offering training to children as young as eight and allowing them on the track by age 15. [3] It was purchased in 2016 by Steve Shelly. [4]
In 2024, Willmington was appointed as the track manager of the Sydney Speedway. [5] [6]
Willmington has a son, Braydan, who is also a racing driver. [7] [8]
