Gary Allan Sojka (born July 15,1940) [1] was president of Bucknell University from 1984 to 1995. [2]
Sojka received his bachelor of arts degree from Coe College and his master of science and doctor of philosophy degrees from Purdue University. Sojka later became the president of the Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Universities. Sojka holds honorary doctorates from Lycoming College,Purdue University and Bucknell University. [3]
Sojka was appointed to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board for a two-year term in January 2007 and was reappointed in 2009. [4]
Sojka Pavilion,home of the Bucknell Bison basketball teams since its opening in 2003,was named in his honor. [5]

Following renovations in the 1990s to add reserved seats,Davis Gym's listed capacity was 2,500,though on occasion standing room crowds exceeded that.

The Bison,led by fourth-year head coach Nathan Davis,played their home games at Sojka Pavilion in Lewisburg,Pennsylvania as members of the Patriot League. They finished the season 21–12,13–5 to earn a share of the regular season Patriot League championship. As the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League tournament,they defeated Holy Cross and Lehigh before losing to Colgate in the championship game. They were not selected for postseason play.
