Gary Bric is a former restaurant owner and former politician in California. Bric is a former mayor of Burbank, California.

Early life and education

In 1970, Bric graduated from Burbank High School in Burbank, California. [1]

Bric attended Los Angeles Valley College and University of Portland. [1]

Career

Bric was a bartender. In 1993, Bric became the owner of Gary Bric's Ramp, a steakhouse restaurant near Bob Hope Airport and Burbank, California. [2] [3] [4]

In 2007, Bric became a member of the city council in Burbank, California. [5] [1]

In 2008, Bric became the vice-mayor of Burbank. [1]

In May 2009, Bric became the mayor of Burbank, until May 2010. [6] [7] [8] He was followed as mayor by Anja Reinke, whil;e remaining on the Council. [9] The City Council selects the mayor from among its members annually. [9]

In November 2018, Bric sold his restaurant property to an investor and retired from the restaurant business. Gary Bric's Ramp closed for business at the end of November 2018. [4] [5] The steakhouse later reopened under a new owner as "The Ramp" without Bric's name. [5]

Restaurant

The restaurant "Gary Bick's Ramp" has been described by the Los Angeles Eater as having been "Lifted Right From the 70's" and as having "a chummy community feel." [2] Bric tended the bar there several nights a week. [2] Some local business owners complained that the restaurant was allowed to enter the "Best of Burbank" run by The Burbank Leader, although it was not actually within the boundaries of Burbank. [10]

Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon was a casual dining restaurant chain with a single independently owned and operated franchise still in business in 2021 on Guam. The chain served steak, seafood, salad, and similar food items. Lone Star opened its first restaurant in 1989 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In March 1992, Lone Star became a public company with eight restaurants opened. At its maximum, 267 Lone Star Steakhouses were in operation. The company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on September 7, 2017.

Gallaghers Steakhouse

Gallaghers Steakhouse, a steakhouse restaurant located at 228 West 52nd Street in the Theater District in Manhattan in New York City, was founded in November 1927 by Helen Gallagher, a former Ziegfeld girl, and wife of Edward Gallagher (1873–1929), and Jack Solomon, a colorful gambler with a large loyal following from the sporting element. These were the days of Prohibition and Gallagher's was one of the first speakeasy gathering places for gamblers, sports figures, and stars of Broadway. Bobs Big Boy

Bob's Big Boy is a restaurant chain founded by Bob Wian in Southern California in 1936, originally named Bob's Pantry. It is now part of Big Boy Restaurant Group, the current primary trademark owner and franchisor of the Big Boy system. At its peak in 1989, there were over 240 Bob's locations throughout the United States, most belonging to Marriott. By August 2019, only five Bob's Big Boy Restaurants remain in operation, all in Southern California. Those five locations are in Burbank, Calimesa, Downey, Norco, and Northridge. Two of these restaurants are now protected historic landmarks: the Burbank location on Riverside Drive and the Downey location, previously known as Johnie's Broiler. In August 2020, plans were announced to open a Bob's Big Boy in Indian Springs, Nevada. The restaurant opened on November 8, 2020 as Big Boy without the Bob's branding, with future expansion planned across Southern Nevada.

Du-par's is a diner-style restaurant in Los Angeles, California that was once a modest-sized regional chain. The first Du-par's was founded in 1938 at the Los Angeles Farmers Market by James Dunn and Edward Parsons, who combined their surnames to create the restaurant's name.
