Gary John Mavers (born 1 September 1964), is an English television actor.

Mavers graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and is best known for his portrayals of GP Andrew Attwood in Peak Practice which he worked on for 5 years as a hardworking doctor in a country practice, (1995 – 2000), [1] and Will Manning in Casualty in a year long role, (2004 – 2005). [2] [3]

Mavers took over the role of Gordon Livesy in Emmerdale from 2015 to 2016 where his character was involved in a child abuse storyline, after it was revealed Gordon abused his son Aaron Livesy (played by Danny Miller) as a child. Mavers was said to have "the hardest job on TV" by many and was congratulated for both his sinister portrayal of the character and being willing to take on the controversial role. [4] [5]

Mavers has three daughters, including fellow actress Abby Mavers, [6] and is also the younger brother of The La's frontman Lee Mavers and older brother of The La's drummer Neil Mavers.

Mavers also has an online YouTube channel called "Classic Obsession - Gary Mavers" in which he restores classic cars. This channel currently (Jan 24) has 23.5k followers.

It originally starred Kevin Whately as Dr Jack Kerruish, Amanda Burton as Dr Beth Glover and Simon Shepherd as Dr Will Preston, though the roster of doctors would change many times over the course of the series. Chas Dingle is a fictional character from the British soap opera Emmerdale, played by Lucy Pargeter. She made her first appearance during the episode broadcast on 16 October 2002. Chas returned on 21 September 2003. Chas was absent for six months in 2005 when Pargeter took maternity leave. She left temporarily on 5 June 2005, and returned full-time from 13 December 2005. In 2013, Pargeter announced that she would be taking a short break from the show in order to appear in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!. Liv was introduced as part of her half-brother Aaron Livesy's sex abuse storyline, which would see her realise that her father is a sex offender. Liv was initially characterised as a troublemaker, but her depth was explored following the decision to move in with Aaron. Steele has noted that similar aspects of her character are similar to herself, and appreciates that Emmerdale wrote her as a teenage with authority since she felt that this is rarely seen on television. Liv became the first asexual character to be featured in a soap opera, and Steele has been praised by viewers and critics for her role in the storyline. Asexual people felt that the character was an accurate portrayal of themselves and Steele has expressed her gratitude at being able to represent them on-screen.
