Gary Pinto is an Australian singer, songwriter and musician and was the lead singer of dance group, CDB.
Gary Pinto is an Australian musician of Anglo-Indian descent. [1] His parents were from Chennai and members of a minority Christian Indian Catholics. The family emigrated to Australia in 1973 where Gary was born. [2]
CBD were formed by Gary Pinto alongside his brother Brad Pinto, Andrew De Silva and Danny Williams. [2] The group released their debut studio album, Glide with Me in 1995 and won the ARIA Award for Highest Selling Single in 1996. The band split up in 1999.
Pinto moved on to perform as a solo artist and has since worked working with artists such as Guy Sebastian, Anthony Callea, Christine Anu, Jimmy Barnes, Jade MacRae and Taylor Dayne. [1]
Pinto co-wrote "Receive the Power" with Guy Sebastian, a song for the World Youth Day 2008 in Sydney. It was performed live during the event by Guy Sebastian and Paulini Curuenavuli. The song was released in two versions, one in English (by Guy Sebastian and Paulini) and an international version verses in Italian (performed by Robert Galea), Spanish (by German Silva) and French (by Amelia Farrugia) and chorus in English. Gary Pinto performed "Receive the Power" and "Behold The Cross" during the same event. [3]
In August 2010, he released his debut solo album Take Back Our World with contributions from Diesel, Dave Darling, Brad Pinto and Meredith Brooks. The album also contains the bonus track "Saint Mary MacKillop", a song he co-wrote as the 2010 official song for the canonisation of Mary MacKillop. [4]
For World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid, Pinto released a joint EP, Firm in the Faith, with John Burland. [5] [ better source needed ]
Gary Pinto co founded As-U-R Music Ministry with his brother Brad Pinto and manager Tracey Duff a music ministry for youth. It runs workshops in Catholic Primary Schools and concert/testimonial workshops in Catholic Secondary Schools. It also works with Catholic Youth Services (CYS), youth groups, the Catholic Education Office and various parishes to bring Catholic religious music and families back to church.

Australian Idol is an Australian singing competition, which began its first season in July 2003 and ended its initial run in November 2009. As part of the Idol franchise, Australian Idol originated from the reality program Pop Idol, which was created by British entertainment executive Simon Fuller. Australian Idol was televised on Network Ten for its first seven series and was broadcast on the Southern Cross Austereo Radio Network between 2005 and 2007. The series returned in 2023 after Seven Network announced they would be picking up the show.
Guy Theodore Sebastian is an Australian singer who rose to fame after winning the first season of Australian Idol, in 2003. Born in Malaysia and raised in Adelaide, Australia, Sebastian has since released ten top ten albums, including three number ones. The first seven all gained either platinum or multi-platinum certification. He has also achieved twenty three top twenty singles, with fourteen of them, reaching the top ten, including six number ones. He is the only Australian male artist in Australian chart history to achieve six number one singles, and places third overall for all Australian acts. Ten of his singles have been certified multi-platinum, including the 13× platinum "Battle Scars". His debut single "Angels Brought Me Here" was the highest selling song in Australia in the decade 2000 to 2009. With 69 platinum and seven gold certifications and combined album and single sales of over five million in Australia, he has the highest certifications and sales of any Australian Idol contestant.
Pauline Curuenavuli, known professionally as Paulini, is a Fijian-Australian singer, songwriter and musical theatre actress. Born in Suva, Paulini moved to Sydney with her family at the age of four. She rose to fame in 2003 as a contestant on the first season of Australian Idol and placed fourth in the competition. After Idol, Paulini signed a recording contract with Sony BMG Australia and released her debut studio album One Determined Heart (2004), which debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart and was certified platinum. The album included the platinum single "Angel Eyes", which spent three consecutive weeks at number one on the ARIA Singles Chart. Paulini received two ARIA No. 1 Chart Awards for both the album and single.
The 18th Annual Australian Recording Industry Association Music Awards were held on 17 October 2004 at the Sydney SuperDome within the Sydney Olympic Complex. The ceremony, hosted by Rove McManus and produced by Roving Enterprises for Network Ten, was held for the first time on a Sunday night and averaged 1.39 million viewers. The 2004 ARIA Fine Arts Awards had been presented at a ceremony weeks earlier.

It was the first World Youth Day held in Australia and the first World Youth Day in Oceania. This meeting was decided by Pope Benedict XVI, during the Cologne World Youth Day of 2005. The theme was "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you".

"Angels Brought Me Here" is a pop song by Australian singer-songwriter Guy Sebastian. It was released in Australia on 24 November 2003 as the lead single from his debut album, Just as I Am (2003). The song was written by Jörgen Elofsson and John Reid for Network Ten's TV talent competition, Australian Idol's inaugural season. Recorded versions were made for both grand finalists, Sebastian and Shannon Noll, with only Sebastian's version officially released by BMG. On 22 November the promotional video had premiered on the same network's Video Hits – produced by Australian Idol's Stephen Tate and directed by its musical director, John Foreman.

The original line-up consisted of former Australian Idol contestants, including season one finalist Paulini, season two finalist Ricki-Lee Coulter, season three winner Kate DeAraugo and season three runner-up Emily Williams. Young Divas released a cover version of Donna Summer's "This Time I Know It's for Real" to attract attention for the tour. The song peaked at number two on the ARIA Singles Chart and was certified platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA).
"Taller, Stronger, Better" is a song written by Guy Sebastian, Gary Pinto and Phil Turcio and was the first single off Sebastian third studio album, Closer to the Sun. He performed the song in the finale of It Takes Two and the Top 24 show of Australian Idol before the single was released. CDB are an Australian R&B, dance and vocal harmony quartet formed in 1991 with Andrew De Silva, Brad Pinto and his brother Gary Pinto, as well as Danny Williams. CDB is an initialism which stands for Central Dandenong Boys. Their highest charting single was a cover version of Earth, Wind & Fire's "Let's Groove", which peaked at number two on the ARIA Singles Chart and number one on the New Zealand Singles Chart. "Hey Girl " also reached number one in New Zealand. Their debut studio album, Glide with Me was released in November 1995. The group disbanded in 1999.

The album contains a duet with Jordin Sparks, and also three tracks with John Mayer on guitar and backing vocals. It peaked at number six on the ARIA Albums Chart and gained platinum certification. The title track "Like It Like That" was one of the most successful singles of Sebastian's career. It reached number one on the ARIA Singles Chart, and achieved 4× platinum certification. "Art of Love" was also a top ten single, spending five months in the ARIA top 50 and double platinum certification. Andrew Conrad De Silva is an Australian singer. He was a member of the band CDB from 1993 to 1998, when he left to undergo treatment for cancer. De Silva won Australia's Got Talent in 2012, which included a cash prize of $250,000.

A deluxe edition featuring a DVD of a concert from Sebastian's Armageddon Tour was also available. It was Sebastian's seventh top ten album in Australia, and his second to achieve a number one peak. It was the ninth highest selling album in Australia in 2012, the second highest selling album by an Australian act.
Armageddon Tour was the 9th concert tour by Australian recording artist Guy Sebastian. The tour supported his upcoming sixth studio album Armageddon. The tour visited metropolitan and regional areas in Australia. In 2012, Sebastian announced that the title of his new album was to be Armageddon. Ahead of the album's release, Sebastian wen on a national tour. The tour took in 20 dates across the country in both metropolitan and regional centres, kicking off in Cessnock on 1 June 2012 before finishing up on the Sunshine Coast on 1 July 2012. Sebastian toured in places he has not toured before.
