Gavin Prout (born March 13, 1978 in Whitby, Ontario) is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays for the Colorado Mammoth in the National Lacrosse League, and formerly of the Hamilton Nationals in Major League Lacrosse. He was also a member of the Team Canada squad that won the gold medal during the 2006 World Lacrosse Championship.

Canadian Box career

Junior

Prout played for the Whitby Warriors of the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League. In 1997, Prout lead the Warriors to their first Minto Cup championship in 12 years. The following year, Prout was awarded the "Green Gael Trophy" for League M.V.P., [1] scoring 49 goals and 125 points during the season. In 1999, Prout led the league in scoring with a career high 132 points, and led the Warriors to their second Minto Cup in three years. Prout was also given the "Dean McLeod Award" for Playoffs M.V.P. and the "B.W. Evans Award" for Top Graduating Player. [1]

Prout finished his junior career with an outstanding 676 points (regular season and playoffs combined), ranking him 25th all time in Canadian Junior A lacrosse history. Prout is also ranked 21st all time in combined assists with 396. [2]

Senior

Prout finished his first season in the MSL with 73 points, and helped the Brooklin Redmen to their first Mann Cup in ten years. Prout was awarded the "Gene Dopp Memorial Trophy" as Rookie of the Year. [3]

College career

Prout started his collegiate career in Erie, PA playing at Mercyhurst College as a freshman until they dropped Men's Lacrosse as a Division 1 sport and Gannon University as a sophomore, until they also dropped Men's Lacrosse as a division 1 sport. Prout played collegiate lacrosse at Loyola College in Maryland, where he was named to the First-team All-American team as a senior.

Professional career

Prout was drafted first overall by the New York Saints in the 2001 National Lacrosse League entry draft. [4]

As a rookie, Prout was named to the All-Rookie team as a member of the Saints. Since joining the league, Prout has played in six NLL All-Star Games (2002, & 2004 - 2008). [4]

Prout joined the Mammoth in 2004, and was named the captain of the Mammoth prior to the 2006 season. He was named the Championship game MVP when the Mammoth won the NLL championship in 2006. [4]

In 2008, Prout led the National Lacrosse League in assists with 67, a career high. [5] During the 2009 NLL season, he was named a reserve to the All-Star game. [6]

In October 2009, Prout was traded along with Andrew Potter and two 2010 1st round draft selections to the Rochester Knighthawks for Ilija Gajic and their 2012 first round draft selection. [7] Just two weeks later, Prout was once again traded with Dean Hill to the Edmonton Rush for two draft picks. [8]

In March 2011, after playing a season and a half for Edmonton, Prout was traded back to the Mammoth. [9]

Shawn Williams is a retired Canadian lacrosse player who played for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and formerly of the Hamilton Nationals of Major League Lacrosse. He is now an assistant coach with the Colorado Mammoth. He was inducted to the NLL Hall of Fame in 2021 as a first ballot nominee.

Mark Steenhuis is a Canadian former professional lacrosse player who last played for the Buffalo Bandits in the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and formerly with the Hamilton Nationals of Major League Lacrosse (MLL).

Shawn Evans is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays for the Rochester Knighthawks in the National Lacrosse League, and the Connecticut Hammerheads of Major League Lacrosse. Evans' brothers, Scott and Stephen have also played in the NLL. Evans is one of two lacrosse player in history to win the Minto Cup, the Mann Cup, and the NLL Champion's Cup all within 12 months of each other. He is also only one of three lacrosse players in history to win 2 Minto Cups back to back with 2 different Junior teams.

Ian Llord is a professional lacrosse player who plays for the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League and the Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse.

Dan Carey is a former professional lacrosse player and current general manager and vice-president of lacrosse operations of the Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League. Carey previously served as the general manager of the Colorado Mammoth. Carey played six seasons in the National Lacrosse League for both the Colorado Mammoth and the Toronto Rock. Carey was selected in the first round by the Mammoth in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft after playing one season at Canisius College. Carey played three full seasons and part of a fourth before a concussion during a Major Series Lacrosse game forced him to miss part of the 2009 and all of the 2010 NLL seasons. Carey returned to the Mammoth during the 2011 season, scoring 13 goals and 22 assists in 12 games.

Luke Wiles is a Canadian lacrosse player who plays forward for the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League. Wiles was named to the 2006 NLL All-Rookie Team.

Ryan Benesch is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays for the Panther City Lacrosse Club in the National Lacrosse League. Benesch has also played for the Halifax Thunderbirds, Colorado Mammoth, Buffalo Bandits, Minnesota Swarm, Edmonton Rush, and Toronto Rock, and was the 2011 NLL scoring leader. Benesch was born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

Zack Greer is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays for the Dallas Rattlers in Major League Lacrosse and the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League. Greer attended high school at All Saints Catholic Secondary School in Whitby, and grew up playing box lacrosse. Greer's brother, Bill, plays for the Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League. Greer's cousin Shawn Thornton played in the National Hockey League for 14 seasons from 2002-2017.

Pat McCready Canadian lacrosse player

Pat McCready is a retired Canadian lacrosse player who played most of his National Lacrosse League career for Rochester Knighthawks, Buffalo Bandits, Toronto Rock, and Charlotte Cobras. As of 2013, he ranks third in NLL history in loose balls (1,593), second in penalty minutes (468), and seventh in games played (219).

Craig Point, is an Iroquois lacrosse player who currently plays for the Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League and the Six Nations Chiefs of Major Series Lacrosse. He was born in Ohsweken, Ontario, and comes from the Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation.

Matt Vinc is a Canadian professional lacrosse goaltender who plays for the Buffalo Bandits in the National Lacrosse League and for the Peterborough Lakers of the Major Series Lacrosse.

Cody Jamieson

Cody Jamieson is a Mohawk lacrosse player from the Turtle Clan at Grand River. He plays for the Halifax Thunderbirds of the National Lacrosse League, the New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse, and the Six Nations Chiefs in Major Series Lacrosse. Jamieson is a former attack man for Syracuse University, where he obtained a degree in Communications.

Adam Jones is a professional Canadian lacrosse player who plays for the Toronto Rock in the National Lacrosse League. Jones is also a member of Owen Sound Northstars in the Ontario Senior B lacrosse league and the Langley Thunder in the Western Lacrosse Association (WLA). In 2013 he was named the sixteenth best indoor lacrosse player in the world by Ilindoor magazine.

Cory Vitarelli is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays for the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League and the Peterborough Lakers of Major Series Lacrosse. Vitarelli scored the NLL's first ever series-ending overtime goal in a mini-game in the 2014 NLL Playoffs.

Mitchell Jones is a Canadian professional box lacrosse player for the Vancouver Warriors of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Jones plays for the Chrome Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League.

Wesley Berg is a Canadian professional lacrosse player for the San Diego Seals of the National Lacrosse League (NLL) and the Chaos Lacrosse Club in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL).
