Gbemisola Ikumelo is a British actress, comedian and writer. She has won a BAFTA award for her short Brain in Gear and best female comedy performance from the Royal Television Society for her role in her show Famalam .
Ikumelo aspired to be a serious actress and at fifteen she was in the National Youth Theatre. She went on to study and train in Acting in Scotland at the Queen Margaret University School of Drama in Edinburgh graduating in 2003. Her break came when she was cast in Sunny D in 2015 [1] playing the main character (Dane Baptiste)'s twin sister. [2]
She came to notice when her sketch show Famalam appeared on the BBC. [1] In 2021 she received an award for best female comedy performance in Famalam from the Royal Television Society. [3]
Ikumelo was awarded a TV BAFTA for her short film, titled Brain in Gear [1] in July 2020. [4]
Ikumelo is a main cast member on the Amazon series A League of Their Own . It concerns the creation of a women's American baseball team during the second world war and it is adapted from the 1992 film. [5]
It was announced in 2022 that Ikumelo would be starring in a new BBC series titled Black Ops with actor Hammed Animashaun and Famalam's producer Akemnji Ndifornyen. Ikumelo plays a woman who signs up to be a community police officer to improve her community, but she and her partner get involved in complication over six episodes. The series is destined for terrestrial channel BBC1 and streaming via the BBC's iplayer. [6]
Ikumelo was also named in 2022 for the cast of a remake of the 1989 film Road House with Jake Gyllenhaal, Daniela Melchior and Billy Magnussen. [7]
For her performance in Clyde's at the Donmar Warehouse, London, Ikumelo was described by Sarah Hemming of Financial Times as "spectacularly scary" in the title role. [8]

In 2019, he was awarded a BAFTA for his work on the hit BBC comedy series Famalam.
The fifth series of the British medical soap opera Doctors originally aired between 1 September 2003 and 14 June 2004. It consisted of 182 episodes. The series saw Natalie J. Robb leave her role as Jude Carlyle after three years on the series. She was followed by original cast member Maggie Cronin, who departed from her role as Kate McGuire. It also saw the castings of two new receptionists: Akemnji Ndifornyen as Nathan Bailey), who also doubled as the estranged son of established Ben Kwarme, and Andrea Green as Sarah Finch. The series five episode "Say a Little Prayer" also became Doctors' first win at the British Soap Awards, claiming the Best Single Episode accolade in 2004. Finch then won the British Soap Award for Best Newcomer a year later for her role as Sarah.

He was the first Black British act to be nominated for the "Best Newcomer" award at 2014's Edinburgh Comedy Awards and his comedy series Sunny D premiered on BBC Three in Spring 2016. He has made numerous TV and radio appearances, and hosts his own podcast Dane Baptiste Questions Everything. In January 2021, Baptiste's comedy pilot Bamous launched on BBC Three / BBC One.
Daniela Melchior dos Reis Lopes Pereira is a Portuguese actress. Born in Almada, Setúbal, she launched her career in 2014 with a role in telenovela Mulheres. She went on to appear in the teen drama Massa Fresca (2016) and telenovelas Ouro Verde (2017) and A Herdeira (2018). Melchior made her film debut in 2018 with The Black Book. She provided the Portuguese dubbing for Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and was cast in the comedy drama Parque Mayer in the same year. Her performance in the latter earned her a nomination for the Sophia Award Best Actress.

Road House is a 2024 American action film, which is a remake of Road House and the third movie overall in the titular franchise. Directed by Doug Liman from a script written by Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry, the events of the story are similar to the original release. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal as an ex-UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys road house. Produced by Joel Silver, the movie also features Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almeida, JD Pardo, Austin Post, and Conor McGregor in its supporting cast.
