Early life

HG Dr.Geevarghese Mar Yulios [1] [2] was Born to late Mr P V Pavu and Mrs K V Anna on May 17, 1967, His Grace hails from a letter loving family, the Karimbakuzhi Pulikkottil family from Kunnamkulam. He is the member of St Mathias South Cross Parish.

Saint Geevarghese Mor Gregorios, popularly known as Parumala Thirumeni, was a Metropolitan of the Malankara Church. Parumala Thirumeni became the first person of Indian origin to be canonised as saint. In 1947, the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church declared Mar Gregorios as a saint, making him the first canonized Christian saint from India. In November 1987, the Syriac Orthodox Church canonized him as a saint.

Geevarghese Ivanios was the first metropolitan archbishop of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church and Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum. He was the founder of Bethany Ashram order of monks and Bethany madom order of nuns. He was the first M.A. degree holder in the Malankara Church. He also served as the principal of the Kottayam M.D Seminary High School and as a professor at Serampore College. He has been declared Servant of God by Cardinal Baselios Cleemis.

Mar Dionysius II, born Pulikkottil Joseph Ittoop was 10th Malankara Metropolitan for nine months until his death on 24 November 1816. He dethroned Mar Thoma IX and succeeded him by the favour of Col.John Munroe, then British Resident of Travancore. Despite the brevity of his reign he made lasting contributions to the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.

Geevarghese Mar Dionysius of Vattasseril popularly known as Vattasseril Thirumeni was a bishop of the Malankara Church, 15th Malankara Metropolitan, and a founder of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. In 2003, the Church declared Mar Dionysius as a saint. He is known as 'The Great Luminary of Malankara Church', a title which the Church bestowed on him in recognition of his contribution to the Church.

Pulikkottil Joseph Mar Dionysious II was the Malankara Metropolitan of the Malankara Church, was born into the family of Pulikkottil (Kunnamkulam). He was the 14th Malankara Metropolitan.
