Eugene "Gene" Krebs was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives [1] from 1993 to 2000. His district consisted of a portion of Butler County,Ohio. He was succeeded by Shawn Webster. Krebs was also County Commissioner of Preble County,Ohio for four years. [2]
Krebs previously served as a collegiate fencing coach. [3] For his dedication to the sport,the Gene Krebs Memorial Tournament was held in Krebs' honor at Miami University,on April 9,2022,and again on April 1,2023. [4] [5] Despite the "memorial" verbiage,Krebs is still a living person and was in attendance.

Vladimir Aliverovich Nazlymov is a former sabre fencer,and coach for the USSR and later the United States,to which he moved in 1991,of Crimean Tatar origin. He won three team Olympic sabre gold medals,and was the head coach of the Soviet Union Military Fencing Team for 14 years. He then coached in the United States,notably for Ohio State University,from which he retired in lieu of termination during an NCAA investigation that found him guilty of aggravated level I violations,sanctioned him,and vacated a number of records of the team and its members. He now serves as a coach at the Nazlymov Fencing Foundation,which was founded by his son and daughter-in-law.
The Little Miami Scenic Trail is the fourth longest paved trail in the United States,running 78.1 miles (125.7 km) through five southwestern counties in the state of Ohio. The multi-use rail trail sees heavy recreational use by hikers and bicyclists,as well as the occasional horseback rider. Over 700,000 people made use of the trail in 2014.

The 1978 NCAA Division I basketball tournament involved 32 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 11,1978,and ended with the championship game on March 27 in St. Louis,Missouri. A total of 32 games were played,including a national third-place game.
The Genesis Invitational is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour in southern California,first played 98 years ago in 1926 as the Los Angeles Open. Other previous names include Genesis Open,Northern Trust Open and Nissan Open. The Miami RedHawks men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Miami University,in Oxford,Ohio. The RedHawks are a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC),starting play in the conference's 2013–14 inaugural season. Prior to the NCHC,from 1980 to 2013,the RedHawks were a member of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) until the original CCHA disbanded in 2013. They play in Steve "Coach" Cady Arena at the Goggin Ice Center.
Olga Mural Field at Schoonover Stadium is a baseball venue located on the campus of Kent State University in Kent,Ohio,United States. It is home to the Kent State Golden Flashes baseball team,a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in Division I and the Mid-American Conference East Division. The field opened in 1966 and was previously known as Gene Michael Field from 1990 to 2003. The field was renamed in late 2003 and renovated in 2005 with additional upgrades made from 2006 through 2008 and again in 2013 to 2014. It has a seating capacity of 1,148 people with a Shaw Sports Turf synthetic playing surface.

The Miami Beach Open was a golf tournament on the PGA Tour in the late 1920s and again in the 1950s. It was held at several different courses in the Miami Beach,Florida area.
The Mid-American Conference baseball tournament is the conference baseball championship of the Mid-American Conference,Division I members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Since 2024,the top six finishers participate in the double-elimination tournament,which is played at the home field of the top seed. The winner of the tournament receives an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. The tournament began in 1981,but was not held from 1984 through 1991. It returned in 1992 and was held annually through 2019. It was scheduled to be played in May 2020,but was cancelled in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. As part of several changes announced in May 2020 related to the pandemic,the tournament was eliminated along with the post-season tournaments of seven other sports,for at least four seasons. The tournament,however,returned in May 2022 after the conference announced in May 2021 that the baseball tournament,along with all other conference tournaments that had been eliminated,would be restored for the 2021–22 athletic season. Kent State has won the most tournament titles with 12,followed by Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan with four each.
Rockne Krebs was a contemporary American artist and sculptor.
Stephen Matias Kovacs was an American saber fencer and fencing coach. He was a three-time NCAA All American for Columbia University,four-time All-Ivy League,and the first fencer to win four consecutive Intercollegiate Fencing Association championships. As a fencing coach,he then coached at the Pingry School,Princeton Junior School,Stevens Institute of Technology,Duke University,Ridge High School,and private fencing clubs including one that he founded. In October 2021 he was arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault,endangering the welfare of a child,and false swearing,and imprisoned in the Somerset County Jail in Somerville,New Jersey. On October 29,2021,the United States Center for SafeSport temporarily suspended Kovacs,pending an investigation by it of allegations against him. On January 15,2022,Kovacs committed suicide in Somerset County Jail.
