Walter Eugene McGuire Jr. (born July 17, 1970) is an American former professional football center in the National Football League (NFL). [2]

Career

McGuire was selected in the fourth round by the New Orleans Saints in 1992 NFL draft and spent the 1992 NFL season with the team, but did not see any playing time. [3] He spent the 1993 NFL season with the Chicago Bears before spending a year away from the NFL. During the 1995 NFL season he was a member of the Miami Dolphins, but once again did not see any playing time. McGuire spent his final season with the Green Bay Packers, culminating in the victory of Super Bowl XXXI.

He played at the collegiate level at the University of Notre Dame. [4]

Considered the face of the Patriots franchise during his nine seasons with the team, Bledsoe helped improve New England's fortunes from 1993 to 2001. Under Bledsoe, the Patriots ended a seven-year postseason drought, qualified for the playoffs four times, clinched their division twice, and made a Super Bowl appearance in Super Bowl XXXI. He was also named to three Pro Bowls and became the youngest quarterback to play in the NFL's Pro Bowl game in 1995.

The Million Dollar Backfield was a National Football League (NFL) offensive backfield of the San Francisco 49ers from 1954 to 1956. Featuring quarterback Y. A. Tittle, halfbacks Hugh McElhenny and John Henry Johnson, and fullback Joe Perry, the backfield was also referred to as the "Fabulous Foursome" and "Fearsome Foursome" by sportswriters. Formed well before players earned six-figure salaries, the unit was named as such for its offensive prowess, and compiled record offensive statistics. It is regarded as one of the best backfields compiled in NFL history, and is the only full house backfield to have all four of its members enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
