High diving is the act of diving into water from relatively great heights. High diving can be performed as an adventure sport, as a performance stunt, or competitively during sporting events. It debuted as a sport at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona. In the world championships, men jump from a 27-metre-high (89 ft) platform while women jump from a 20-metre-high (66 ft) platform. In other official competitions, men generally dive from a height of 22–27 metres (72–89 ft) while women dive from a height of 18–23 metres (59–75 ft). The sport is unique in that athletes are often unable to practice in an authentic environment until the days leading up to a competition. High diving has been designated a sport separate from regular diving by FINA. High divers have achieved speeds of descent of 96 kilometres per hour (60 mph).
Oleksiy Pryhorov is a Ukrainian diver who won the bronze medal in the 3 m spring synchro along with Illya Kvasha in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. The duo won gold at the same event during the 2010 European Aquatics Championships. He participates at the 2019 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.
Gary Hunt is an elite sports diver, specialising in cliff or high diving, and is the 2015 World champion in the High diving at World Aquatics Championships event, where he holds the championship record. With a silver in the 2013 edition of the event, Hunt is the most successful male diver in the short history of the FINA recognised event.
Anna Bader is a German high diver. She competed in the 2013 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona, Spain the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series in 2013, 2014 and 2015, and the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia.
Jonathan Paredes Bernal is a Mexican high diver who won the bronze medal at the 2013 World Aquatics Championships in Barcelona at the high diving event behind Orlando Duque and Gary Hunt.

Micaela Bouter is a South African diver. She competed in the women's 3 metre springboard event at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships. She finished in 35th place in the preliminary round. She attended and competed in diving at the University of Houston.

Iris Schmidbauer is a German high diver. She represented Germany at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary and at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, South Korea. In 2019, she finished in 8th place and in 2017, she finished in 10th place.
Roosa Kanerva is a Finnish diver. In 2019, she finished in 34th place in the preliminary round in the women's 1 metre springboard event at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships held in Gwangju, South Korea.
Xantheia Pennisi is an Australian high diver. She represented Australia at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, South Korea and she finished in 6th place in the women's high diving event.
Lysanne Richard is a Canadian high diver. She represented Canada at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships in Kazan, Russia and she finished in 5th place in the women's high diving event. She was not able to represent Canada at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships as she had to withdraw from the competition after sustaining a neck injury.
