The 2019 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series was the 11th season of the Red Bull-sponsored international cliff diving series. The series began on 13 April in El Nido, Philippines, with the final event taking place on 14 September in Bilbao, Spain. [1] [2]

Divers

The line-up of divers for the 2019 series was announced in November 2018. The men's series featured 10 permanent divers, with former Olympic divers Constantin Popovici and Oleksiy Pryhorov joining the permanent line-up for the first time. In the women's series, the line-up of six permanent divers included 23-year-old newcomer Eleanor Smart, who was the youngest permanent diver on the 2019 tour. In addition to the permanent divers, at least four wildcard divers were selected to compete at each stop of the men's and women's series. [10]

At each event, each competing diver performed four dives. The diver with the highest cumulative score after all four dives was declared the winner, and was awarded 200 points. Further points were awarded to all divers who competed at each event, based on their finishing position. [11]

Men

The men's series featured seven events. The 10 permanent divers were joined at each event by at least four wildcard divers.

Constantin Popovici is a Romanian platform diver. In 2019, he became the first Romanian to achieve a first-place finish at a stop of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series. He is the 2022 European champion in the 27 metre high dive. He has won multiple medals as part of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series and he won the bronze medal in the 27 metre high dive event at the Abu Dhabi Aquatics Festival in 2021. For the 10 metre platform event at the 2008 Summer Olympics, he placed twenty-third overall.

Rhiannan Iffland is an Australian high diver. She is a seven-time consecutive Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series champion. She won her first championship in 2016 as a wildcard entrant in her debut year, the first-ever rookie to do so.

Xantheia Pennisi is an Australian high diver. She represented Australia at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, South Korea, and she finished in sixth place in the women's high diving event. In 2019, she finished in ninth place in the 2019 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series. She also competed in the 2023 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.

The Abu Dhabi Aquatics Festival was a FINA-organized international aquatics competition spanning the disciplines of open water swimming, diving, and high diving, which took place from 15 to 20 December 2021 on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. It was held correspondent to the 2021 FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships. The festival was the first time competitions in the three disciplines are being conducted at the same time as and in conjunction with a FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships. In addition to sporting competitions, an interactive village is being provided for festival attendees. Coverage of the aquatics festival on television and via online streaming was provided on six continents with news agencies including ESPN (Americas), SuperSport (Africa), and beIN Sports (Asia) providing international coverage of the high diving competitions.

Aidan Heslop is a British diver and high diver who competes internationally representing Wales and Great Britain. In 2024 he won gold in the men's high dive at the 2024 World Aquatics Championships.

Cătălin-Petru Preda is a Romanian diver and high diver. He was the first man to win a silver medal in a high diving event at a LEN European Aquatics Championships, winning the silver medal in the 27-metre high dive at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships. Helena Merten is an Australian high diver and acrobatic performer. She placed second at the 2017 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series and won a silver medal in women's 20m at the FINA High Diving World Cup 2016.

The 2024 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series is an ongoing season of the Red Bull-sponsored international cliff diving series. It is the 16th edition of this event. The series began on 26 May in Athens, Greece, with the final event being held on 10 November 2024 in Sydney, Australia.
