Geoff Gray (born November 8, 1994) is a Canadian professional football offensive lineman. He was drafted eighth overall in the 2017 CFL Draft by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He played U Sports football for the Manitoba Bisons.

Professional career

Green Bay Packers

Gray signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2017. [2] He was waived by the Packers on September 2, 2017. [3]

New York Jets

On September 4, 2017, Gray was signed to the New York Jets' practice squad. [4]

Cleveland Browns

On December 13, 2017, Gray was signed by the Cleveland Browns off the Jets' practice squad. [5] He was waived on August 28, 2018. [6]

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

On October 15, 2018, Gray signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers through to the 2020 CFL season. [7] He played in his first professional game on November 3, 2018, against the Edmonton Eskimos, which was his only game played that year. In the 2019 season, he started the first 12 games of the season as Winnipeg began with a 9–3 record. After Patrick Neufeld returned from injury, Gray was a back-up offensive linemen and spent most of the remainder of the season on the injured list. Despite not playing in the 107th Grey Cup, Gray became a Grey Cup champion after the Blue Bombers defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the title game. [8]

Gray signed a one-year contract extension with the Blue Bombers on January 8, 2021. He played in the Grey Cup that year as a member of the Bombers second consecutive championship team (2020 cancelled due to pandemic). In 2022 and 2023, he was a member of the Grey Cup finalist, Bombers, runners up to the Toronto Argonauts and Montreal Alouettes in both years of his most recent contract. [9]

Notably, he has been a key member of the strong offensive line offering protection to one of the highest performing quarterbacks and a key run blocker that supported league leading running backs in achieving over 5,000 yards over four years.

Matt Sheridan is a retired professional Canadian football offensive lineman who played eight seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League and was twice named Winnipeg's Most Outstanding offensive lineman.

Chris Walby is a retired Canadian Football League player who played the offensive tackle position almost exclusively with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He won three Grey Cups with the Bombers in 1984, 1988, and 1990. Walby was also a sportscaster with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's CFL on CBC telecasts following his retirement.

Herbert William Gray was a Canadian Football Hall of Fame football player who in the 1950s and 1960's won four Grey Cups and played for two others; and was named the Winnipeg Blue Bombers Defensive Player of the Half Century and to the Canadian Football League's (CFL) All-Time All-Star team at defensive end. He made all-star teams as both an offensive lineman and defensive end and was the first defensive player to win the league's Outstanding Lineman award. Prior to that he was an All-American football player at the University of Texas and helped them to win a share of the 1953 Southwest Conference (SWC) Championship.
