Dr. George A. Phillips (1853-October 9, 1921) was an American physician and politician from Maine. Phillips, a Republican served one term in the Maine House of Representatives. While in office, he authored a law which prohibited people with syphilis from getting married without a certificate from a physician. [1]
Born in Orland, Maine, Phillips graduated from Castine Normal School. He then earned an M.D. from the University of the City of New York in 1882. He was a United States Pension Examiner, served on the Bar Harbor, Maine School Board and as president of the Bar Harbor Board of Trade. [2]

The Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes Railroad (SR&RL) was a 2 ft narrow gauge common carrier railroad that operated approximately 112 miles (180 km) of track in Franklin County, Maine. The former equipment from the SR&RL continues to operate in the present day on a revived, short segment of the railway in Phillips, Maine.

Between 1820 and 1839, justices served lifetime appointments with a mandatory retirement age of 70. Craig V. Hickman is an American writer, farmer, and Democratic politician from Maine currently representing Maine Senate District 14. He served in the 126th Maine House of Representatives as the representative for Maine's 82nd district from 2012-2018. Hickman won his 2012 primary election by nearly 80%, and campaigned on ending hunger, eliminating regulations for small farms and businesses, and investing in sustainable energy initiatives. Hickman was elected to the Maine Senate in a 2021 special election, succeeding Shenna Bellows.

Samuel Page Benson was a United States representative from Maine. He was born to Peleg and Sally Benson in Winthrop, Massachusetts on November 28, 1804. He received instruction from private teachers and attended the Monmouth Academy of Maine. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 1825. He studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Unity. He returned to Winthrop and practiced law until 1850.
Matthew Dunlap is an American politician from Maine who has served as the Maine State Auditor since November, 2022, and previously from January to October, 2021. A Democrat, Dunlap served as Secretary of State of Maine from January 7, 2013, to January 4, 2021, and previously served in that same post from 2005 to 2011. In 2012, he sought to become his party's nominee to replace retiring Olympia Snowe, but lost in the primary to State Senator Cynthia Dill. Prior to his first election as secretary of state in 2005, he represented Old Town in the Maine House of Representatives for four terms beginning in 1996. On December 2, 2020, Dunlap was elected Maine State Auditor by the Maine Legislature and took office on January 4, 2021. Dunlap had to vacate the position after failing the exams needed to meet the requirements of the position the following October, and was replaced by Jacob Norton. He did later meet the requirements and was selected for the position again on November 14, 2022.
Dale McCormick is an American politician from the state of Maine who currently serves on the city council of Augusta. McCormick was the first openly gay member of the Maine State Legislature, having been elected in 1990 to the first of three terms in the Maine Senate. A Democrat, she represented a largely rural district that included her then-residence in Hallowell. After narrowly losing a congressional bid, she served as state treasurer and as director of the Maine State Housing Authority.

A Republican from Augusta, he is member of the Maine State Senate, representing District 15, which includes Augusta, China, Oakland, Sidney, and Vassalboro. Elected in November 2012 at the age of 25, Pouliot is one of the youngest members of the Maine Legislature. He graduated from Cony High School in Augusta, received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Maine at Augusta, and works as a Realtor. In December 2020, he was elected by other Republicans to serve as Assistant Minority Leader.

Barbara W. Woodlee is an American college administrator. She was president of Kennebec Valley Community College in Fairfield, Maine, from 1984 to 2012, and since 2013 has served as chief academic officer of the Maine Community College System. She was the first woman president in both the state technical college and community college systems. She was inducted into the Maine Women's Hall of Fame in 2015.
Maine Question 2, formally entitled "An Act To Enhance Access to Affordable Health Care", was a citizen-initiated ballot measure that appeared on the November 7, 2017 statewide ballot in the State of Maine. Maine Question 2 sought to expand Medicaid eligibility under the terms of the Affordable Care Act. The measure passed.
