George Krissa is a Canadian actor and singer, best known for his performance as Jason DeVito in the 2022 romantic comedy film The Holiday Sitter . [1]

Early life

Krissa was born and raised in Lashburn, Saskatchewan. [2] He studied music at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta. [3]

Career

He began his career in musical theatre, appearing in productions such as Rent , [4] West Side Story [5] and Million Dollar Quartet [6] in Western Canada before becoming known in Eastern Canada for performances as Rocky in the Stratford Festival production of The Rocky Horror Show in 2018, [7] and Tommy Albright in the Shaw Festival production of Brigadoon in 2019. [8]

In November 2023, he made his cabaret debut in New York [2]

In 2023, Krissa starred as Anatole in the Canadian premiere production of Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 . [9] The musical was presented by Crow's Theatre in Toronto, and opened December 5, 2023. Although it was originally scheduled to close on January 28, 2024, the musical was continually extended due to popular demand before eventually closing on March 24, 2024. [10]

He has also had supporting roles in film and television, including appearances in Murdoch Mysteries and Coroner .

Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 is a sung-through musical adaptation of a 70-page segment from Leo Tolstoy's 1869 novel War and Peace. The show was written by composer, lyricist, playwright, orchestrator Dave Malloy and originally directed by Rachel Chavkin. It is based on Part 8 of Tolstoy's novel, focusing on Natasha's romance with Anatole and Pierre's search for meaning in his life.

Dan Chameroy is a Canadian actor and singer, best known for his work in musical theatre. In 1995, he originated the role of Gaston in the Canadian premiere production of Beauty and the Beast at the Princess of Wales Theatre. Chameroy also originated the role of Miss Trunchbull in the Canadian premiere production of Matilda at the Ed Mirvish Theatre, and reprised the role in the show's first national tour. He has also co-created and performed as the character "Plumbum" at several Ross Petty pantomimes.

Amber Gray is an American actress and singer. She is known for originating the role of Hélène Bezukhova in the musical Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812 and the role of Persephone in the musical Hadestown, both off and on Broadway. For the latter 2019 role, she was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, additionally earning the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.

Evan Buliung is a Canadian actor and singer, who is best known for his work in musical theatre. In 2006, Buliung originated the role of Aragorn in the world premiere production of Lord of the Rings, which played at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto. He also originated the role of Khashoggi in the Canadian premiere production of We Will Rock You in 2007. He also played Bruce Bechdel in a Toronto production of Fun Home, for which he won a Dora Award. Nick Green is a Canadian actor and playwright. He won the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Play in 2017 for his play Body Politic, a dramatization of the history of the Canadian LGBTQ newsmagazine The Body Politic. He is also the recipient of an Elizabeth Sterling Haynes Award, the Tom Hendry Award and BroadwayWorld.com Award.

Andrew Penner is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist, performer, composer, actor, sound designer, and producer currently residing in Toronto, Ontario. He performs as a solo artist and is the founder of folk rock and roll band Sunparlour Players. Penner is also an actor and has appeared in Soulpepper Theatre’s Spoon River and As You Like It, "Ghost Quartet" and "Natasha, Pierre And The Great Comet Of 1812". Irene Sankoff is a Canadian librettist and composer–lyricist, best known for co-writing the Broadway musical Come from Away with her writing partner and husband, David Hein.

The Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Play, Independent Theatre is a Canadian theatre award, presented as part of the Dora Mavor Moore Awards to honour the year's best new play by a Canadian playwright which had its premiere in the Toronto theatre market in the previous year.
