George Lyon (born 16 July 1956) is a Scottish Liberal Democrat politician,and a former Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Scotland. [1] [2]
Lyon is a former farmer from the Isle of Bute,and previous National Farmers Union of Scotland president. From 1999 to 2007 he was the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Argyll and Bute,and served as both Chief Whip and Deputy Finance Minister. A member of the Alliance of Liberal Democrats in Europe (ALDE) group whilst in the European Parliament,Lyon was lead spokesperson for ALDE on the Agriculture Committee. Lyon was also vice-chair of the EP's Budget Committee.

The ALDE Party is affiliated with the Liberal International and a recognised European political party,incorporated as a non-profit association under Belgian law.

He was the Minister for Enterprise,Energy and Tourism from 2007 to 2011,and he was a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) from 2003 to 2011. He was the SNP's National Treasurer for four years and after leaving Parliament has held various non-executive posts and academic roles.
Tavish Hamilton Scott is a former Scottish politician. He was the Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for Shetland from 1999 to 2019,and Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats from 2008 to 2011. He stepped down as Leader after the 2011 Scottish Parliament election,in which the Liberal Democrats were reduced to five seats,down from 16 in the previous parliament.
