Georgia's 95th House of Representatives district elects one member of the Georgia House of Representatives. Its current representative is Democrat Beth Moore who was first elected in the 2018 general elections. [1]

Contents

House District 95 was last approved on August 23, 2011, when the Georgia State Legislature approved amended House district lines following the 2010 U.S. census. [2] It was not one of the State House districts that was further amended by House Bill 829 on February 23, 2012. [3]

Gwendolynne Sophia Moore is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for Wisconsin's 4th congressional district since 2005. In 2016, Moore was elected to serve as caucus whip of the Congressional Black Caucus for the 115th United States Congress. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Her district is based in Milwaukee and as a result of the 2011 redistricting also includes some Milwaukee County suburbs: Bayside, Brown Deer, Cudahy, Fox Point, Glendale, St. Francis, South Milwaukee, West Milwaukee, Shorewood, and Whitefish Bay. Moore is the first woman to represent the district and the second woman after Tammy Baldwin and the first African American elected to Congress from Wisconsin.

The district is anchored in Atlanta's inner eastern suburbs, including Decatur, all of Rockdale County, Lithonia, Stone Mountain, Covington and a sliver of Atlanta itself. Johnson is one of only three Buddhists to have served in the United States Congress. The others are Senator Mazie Hirono and former Representative Colleen Hanabusa, both of Hawaii.

Elizabeth Bachman Moore is an American attorney and former member of the Georgia House of Representatives from the 95th District, serving from 2019 to 2023. She is a member of the Democratic Party. At the time Moore represented the 95th District it included the cities of Peachtree Corners, Berkeley Lake, Duluth, Norcross, and Johns Creek. The district included citizens of both Gwinnett and Fulton counties. As of 2022, District 95 was changed to a completely different area south of Snellville and north of Stonecrest and Conyers.

The 2022 Georgia Secretary of State election was held on November 8, 2022, to elect the Secretary of State of Georgia. Incumbent Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger won re-election to a second term. Raffensperger emerged as a major national figure in early January, 2021 when he faced significant pressure from then-President Donald Trump to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. The party primary elections took place on May 24, with runoffs scheduled for June 21. Trump had been taped in a phone call asking Raffensperger to "find 11,780 votes," the exact number needed for Trump to carry the state.

Nabilah Islam Parkes is an American activist and politician from the state of Georgia who is the Georgia State Senator for the 7th district as a result of the 2022 Georgia State Senate election. She became the first Muslim woman in the Georgia State Senate and the second overall in the Georgia State Legislature, along with Sheikh Rahman and Farooq Mughal. She previously ran to represent Georgia's 7th congressional district in 2020. Due to her progressive stances, she has been described as "Georgia's AOC" and "Atlanta's AOC."
