Sami Jo Small is a Canadian former ice hockey goaltender. As a member of the Canadian national team, she was an Olympic gold medallist and four-time World Championship medallist. One of the founders of the now defunct Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL), she served in the role of vice-chair during the league's inaugural season and went on to play ten seasons in the league. She was the team president of the Toronto Six before the Premier Hockey Federation ceased operations in 2023.
The Markham Thunder was a professional women's ice hockey team in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). From 1998 through 2017, the franchise was known as the Brampton Thunder and Brampton Canadettes-Thunder before relocating from Brampton, Ontario, to Markham, Ontario, for the 2017–18 season. The CWHL ceased operations in 2019 and no further statements or actions were taken with the franchise.

Iya Viktorovna Gavrilova is a Russian ice hockey player, currently affiliated with the Calgary section of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA). She was a member of the Russian national team during 2003 to 2016 and represented Russia at the Winter Olympic Games in 2006, 2010, and 2014, and at eleven IIHF Women's World Championships, winning bronze medals at the tournaments in 2013 and 2016 At the 2015 Winter Universiade in Granada, Spain, Gavrilova was part of Russia's gold medal-winning team, the first team to defeat Canada in FISU women's ice hockey history.
The Calgary Inferno was a women's ice hockey team that joined the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) for the 2011–12 season. The team played its home games at Joan Snyder Rink at WinSport Canada in Calgary, Alberta. After two seasons without an official name, in 2013 the team picked a moniker drawing from Calgary's National Hockey League franchise, the Calgary Flames, with whom they had a partnership. For the 2013-14 season, it was announced that all Inferno home-games would be streamed live by PCSN.tv.
Sommer West was a Canadian Olympic softball player at the 2000 Summer Olympics. In addition, she was a former member of the Canadian national women's hockey team. She was also an ice hockey player in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). West has competed for the Mississauga Chiefs and Burlington Barracudas in the CWHL. Currently, she is the head coach of the Toronto Furies of the Canadian Women's Hockey League. As head coach of the Toronto Furies, she led the squad to the 2014 Clarkson Cup championship.
Laura Michele Fortino is an Italian-Canadian ice hockey defenceman and coach, currently playing in the Italian Hockey League Women (IHLW) with the EV Bozen Eagles. A former member of the Canadian national team, she won two Olympic medals and six World Championship medals during 2011 to 2019.
Jillian Pauline Saulnier is a Canadian ice hockey forward currently with PWHL New York of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). She is a two-time Olympian for Canada, winning a gold medal in 2022 and a silver medal in 2018.
Jessica Wong, also known by the Chinese name Wang Yuting, is a Canadian ice hockey player, a defenceman. She most recently played with the Chinese national ice hockey team and in the Zhenskaya Hockey League (ZhHL) with the KRS Vanke Rays during the 2021–22 season. She was drafted first overall in the 2013 CWHL Draft by the Calgary Inferno and played four seasons in the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL).
The 2013 CWHL Draft was held in August 2013. Jessica Wong became the first visible minority selected with the first pick overall. Wong was also part of another unique piece of draft history. Her teammate from the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, Katie Wilson, was picked second overall. It marked the first time that two NCAA teammates were selected first and second overall.
The Durham West Jr. Lightning are a Canadian Junior women's ice hockey team based in Ajax, Ontario. The Lightning are members of the Provincial Women's Hockey League of the Ontario Women's Hockey Association. The Lighting were 2007 PWHL silver medallists and 2006 bronze medallists, and 2013 Ontario Intermediate AA champions and 2006 silver medallists.

Hayley Marie Moore is an American ice hockey executive and former player, currently the vice president of hockey operations of the American Hockey League (AHL). She previously served as the deputy commissioner of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) from 2017 to 2019, general manager of the Boston Pride of the NWHL from 2015 to 2017, and president of the Boston Pride from 2019 to 2021.
The 2017–18 CWHL season is the 11th season of the Canadian Women's Hockey League. This is also the first season in which the teams pay their players a salary. It would also prove to be the final full season in which Brenda Andress served as commissioner of the league, tendering her resignation on July 18, 2019.
The Shenzhen Vanke Rays were a women's ice hockey team that played in the 2017–18 season of the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL). They were based in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China and played at the Shenzhen Dayun Arena. The team was developed along with the Kunlun Red Star WIH as part of the Chinese Ice Hockey Association (CIHA) in an effort to grow interest in ice hockey in China in preparation for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. Both teams debuted in the 2017–18 CWHL season. The general manager was Shirley Hon, who was named to the position on August 18, 2017.
Victoria Bach is a Canadian women's ice hockey player with PWHL Toronto of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) and the Canadian national team. A graduate of Boston University, she was the first player in the Terriers' women's ice hockey program to score more than 100 goals. She played in the CWHL with the Markham Thunder, and received the CWHL's 2018-2019 Rookie of the Year award.
